Thank you for your inquiry.

s2Member doesn’t natively support this functionality, but you could add addition JavaScript code to add this capability by putting it in the footer section of your register page. You can find info on doing this here:

Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Login Registration Design

My problem is this, if I set Open Registration in S2Member to ‘no’ (as I want everyone to pay) then S2Member turns off the “Anyone can register” option in WordPress and when I click on the ‘Register’ link in my menu it says ‘User registration is currently unavailable.”

The only way to fix this issue is to change the Register link where it is on your site. It sounds like it might be in your theme, so I’d write into your theme’s developer and find out what needs to be changed to change this link to your Membership Options Page.

Essentially they are repurchasing the CCAP, the same one, more than once. What will happen if they do that? Or will it kick it back and say they already have the CCAP?

This won’t throw an error. You can do this if you’d like.

When the page displays, this error message is at the top of the form:

You must login before making this purchase.

This isn’t something that s2Member is supposed to throw. Are you using any Shortcode Conditionals on this page?

From the docs
(Dashboard -› s2Member® -› ClickBank® Options -› Thank-You Page Integration):

It is also possible to bypass s2Member’s Thank-You Page all together, if you prefer. You can take s2Member’s Thank-You Page URL (shown above), and add &s2member_pro_clickbank_return_success=http://… where the value can be set to a custom Thank-You Page URL that you prefer. In other words, if you use the &s2member_pro_clickbank_return_success=http://… parameter in your Thank-You Page URL, the initial redirection back to s2Member’s default handler MUST still occur. However, instead of s2Member displaying its Thank-You Page Template to the Customer, s2Member will silently redirect the Customer to the URL that you specified in the &s2member_pro_clickbank_return_success=http://… parameter, allowing you to take complete control over what happens next.

If I don’t have a product item number yet how can I create a shortcode for a test purchase?

I’ve been putting “1″ in the field. But my logs are saying that the API isn’t configured right. Is that why?

ClickBank requires you to have everything set up to run test transactions, as there’s no Sandbox environment that s2Member can hook into like there is with PayPal or Authorize.Net. You’ll need to set everything up (get your item #, and set up your Thank-You Page), then you can do $0.01 transactions to test checkout with.

We recommend http://jobs.wordpress.net/, http://elance.com/, or http://odesk.com/ for s2Member projects.

Any designer familiar with WordPress should be able to set this up. There’s no scripting involving s2Member directly, only verifying the Social Security Number and then showing the registration form if it was verified correctly.

Thank you for your inquiry.

i would like to restrict level 0 (a “subscriber” vs. “member”?) from downloading files, so i added the URI fragment “download” to URI’s that require level #1 or higher.

The better way to do this would be to only allow links to be accessed with the keys shown in Advanced Download Options, and use s2Member’s Shortcode Conditionals do decide when to show these special links. That way Users can only see the special links when they are a certain level, and therefore only access content when they can see the links.

I’ve disable every plug-in except from s2member and I downloaded WordPress 3.3.1 (my current version) from the WordPress archive and overwrote every file in wp-admin, wp-includes, and the root directory.. I’m still getting backslashes. I’ve also disabled magic quotes in my php.ini file.

It’s definitely normal to have WordPress save your Posts/Pages with backslashes to keep queries from failing. Do the backslashes show up in the Add/Edit Post screen?

Thank you for your inquiry.

s2Member does not have the functionality you’re looking for here. You’re going to need to have a developer set this up, I’m afraid. Sorry about that.

I have two sites at BlueHost, and I cloned this one from another one after I had generated the key. Could this be the problem? If so, will I have to redo my sites to make them work? The original site will never be taking money, so I could disable s2member on it, if necessary.

Your account is set up with an Unlimited Site license, and disabling s2Member on one site is not going to help.

Could you provide us with a Dashboard login so we can take a look, please?

1. Can I import my current member directory (including members status, mailing address, expiry date, custom fields) into the system upon installation?

Yes. You can pass Custom Fields through the s2Member Import panel.

See: Knowledge Base » Import (or Mass Update) Users

2. Can I manually add people who join by snail mail and pay by cash/cheque, so that WordPress stores all my member info and expiration dates?

Yes. Just create the User, and set the End of Term (or date the User needs to be downgraded) manually through the WordPress Add/Edit User page.

3. Can fields be added to the database for members to complete when they subscribe eg: mailing address, phone number, interests?

s2Member provides this through Custom Registration/Profile Fields.

See: Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Registration/Profile Fields

4. Can portions of a post be blocked so only members can see the full post, but non-members get teaser text?

You’ll need to use Shortcode Conditionals for this. You can find on those here:

Knowledge Base » Simple Shortcode Conditionals

5. Can I set up automated renewal reminders when members are about to expire? (I notice this wasn’t supported last June, any progress?)

s2Member doesn’t support it by default, but I posted an unofficial hack about how you might do this:

http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/setting-up-eot-notifications/

6. We didn’t have an online subscription system before – Can I send an initial email to the whole database introducing the system and including their username and password?

s2Member imports Users silently, so that’s not something that s2Member’s going to do for you. You might could find a plugin capable of this, though. s2Member uses the default WordPress Users system, so any plugins you find on WordPress.org should work just fine. :-)

7. Mailchimp – Will the whole database go to mailchimp once I link the account? Do all fields go or just the name and email address? eg: their member status? Does their email disappear from MailChimp when they are no longer members?

s2Member’s User Import doesn’t add Users to MailChimp, as it runs silently. If you absolutely need this to happen, there are a few methods of stopping s2Member from running silently so your Users will get their information and be signed up to MailChimp on Import floating around the forums.

Thank you for your inquiry.

s2Member currently doesn’t offer this ability. You might be able to use some JavaScript to add this in. s2Member Uses the CSS Class ws-plugin–s2member-pro-login-widget-profile-summary-name for this label.

Is it possible to limit their access so users can only see their page and won’t be able to see other members pages.

Yes. You can give each of these Users a Custom Capability for their Username, and create Posts/Pages protected with those Custom Capabilities. You’ll need to do this manually for each User, however. Are you needing this to be automated?

Thank you for your inquiry.

You can have Users pay for Custom Capabilites one at a time with Custom Capability Buy Now Buttons, or Forms.

I double checked all my setting which look right. Is this an s2member problem or do I need to contact PayPal.

This is a PayPal thing. s2Member regards these skips as a failed payment, and will eventually (by default, after 2 failed payments) perform a downgrade based on your Auto EOT settings.

See: Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Automatic EOT Behavior

Edited to add: At this point, I’m just looking for a YES or NO answer. Can I have a single registration form that allows me to have a “subscriber 0″ level with custom capabilities.

Yes. You can change your level attribute in a regular Membership Level form with Custom Capabilities set up to 0, and it will work just fine. :-)

Thank you for your inquiry.

Are you using PayPal Pro Forms, or PayPal Buttons?

According to your logs, you’re running s2Member v130214, could you please update your version of s2Member?

Thanks. I did go through this article and as I said the download is working great, limiting depending on the user. However when the user tries to play the audio from the same file it gives an error regardless of the audio player I try. It is like the player does not have access to that directory.

Can you try adding the variable shown in the Advanced Download Optioins? That will allow anyone to access the file through a particular link for a short amount of time.

How can I add this to my S2Member thank you page without coding?

s2Member gives you the ability to add the necessary information for ClickBank here:

Thank you for your inquiry.

I have no clue what Clickbank buttons do.

Are these payment buttons to put on my pitch page?

Or do I put them on pages that I want restricted access?

I only have one membership level so I don’t need multiple access options.

Please explain.

ClickBank buttons are buttons for integration with ClickBank. You can put these in any Post/Page in your WordPress installation once you’ve configured your ClickBank Options. These provide access to checkout through ClickBank, which in turn will allow access to your site through s2Member.

See: Dashboard -› s2Member® -› ClickBank® Options -› Account Details

Also, I see a field for “ClickBank® Product Item #: [?] “.

What is my ClickBank Product Item? (I don’t have my product approved yet.)

Once you have your product approved you’ll have access to your ClickBank Product Item #.
