Have S2 Pro..
Is there a way for owners of their own sites to ‘see’ passwords for members of their sites?
It is somewhat of a headache to be FORCED to have S2 reset a person’s password and HOPE they get the email and then HOPE they click the link and HOPE.. etc.
It would be much easier for my client to look a member up under certain circumstances and just give them their password.
Can someone from S2 PLEASE answer if this can be done?

Actually, Im not gonna be so harsh on S2, Im moving servers now.. I’ve seen other non-s2 things going on that may be the culprit!
The more i delve into S2, I cant believe how genius it is! Some of the things I am able to do with it that dont even have anything to do with ‘membership’ is amazing! I literally spend hours in the docs and then going out and testing and tinkering and am amazed every single time lol.

Do you have a suggestion on what I should do when i went to export and then import member base from one site (old server) to new site at its new server just to then find out that EVERY single paying member that has signed up since me having S2 is STILL an active member on a paying site after they should have been deleted months ago?
As in, a person signs up for 1 month access.. but yet its 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 months later and EVERYONE of them is still Level 1 access?
I’m literally right now trying to explain to my client just how this happened!
I use ccbill, and i have checked these members and their status their every one is listed as INACTIVE but yet S2 is still giving them access ala not demoting or even removing them!
I’m blown away right now, very unhappy.. and very upset trying to explain to client about this AFTER having referred S2 to them!

Ironically, I JUST went back to work on the above site, and am attempting to do an export and then import of members (I’m updating members at new site / new server / new dns).. and I see the following:
Please note. Export files do NOT contain Passwords. Passwords are stored by WordPress® with one-way encryption. In other words, it’s not possible for s2Member to include them in the export file. However, this does NOT create a problem, because when/if you re-import existing Users/Members with the Password field empty, s2Member will simply keep the existing Password that is already on file. For further information, please read all Import instructions, regarding Passwords.
So, I guess this is basically out of S2’s hands.. I could do what i need right in WP as S2 simply reads/writes to the p/w that is already there?
Lastly, it would be really helpful if there was a shortcode to show p/w for admin use, even IF it were only for display!!! Is there?

Well, from first glance I think it is def doable. The more important question is what is your coding skill level? I ask because what you are trying to do can be done numerous ways.. as in with S2 and native WP.. with MU and native WP.. and so on.
IF you were looking to do it with S2, I’m thinking MU + S2 capabilities. For me this would make the easiest way because at any time you wanted to make any kind of ‘day’ changes, you could simply go to the MU you created and change one variable and done.. no need to deal with restrictions or capabilities!
I tend to try and stay away from using ANY plugin when you can do it in code yourself.. so that is my approach (plugin updates wont break your site / functionality).
Now if you are reliant on plugins/addons or this is for a client and you need the WP backend, then obviously you need plugin or you would have to customize backend for client = more work then say a simple MU / hack of 5 – 10 lines of code and done.
So.. are you able to do MU yourself? Or you must have a plugin + S2?

In reference to the reg form, and frankly all of S2M even Contact 7 forms and logins.. this may help. I use the plugin “Theme My Login” http://wordpress.org/plugins/theme-my-login/
The very first feature of it says:
Your registration, log in, and password recovery pages will all match the rest of your website
It basically automatically uses your themes CSS.
Also you can make any specific CSS adjustments you want, and save them in a custom.css file that way should you update S2M, Contact 7, etc. ur CSS changes are still intact.
Theme my login ALSO has some emailing options too!

I know how it feels.. if you wanna post here your prob, there is a small chance I could help. As I have had to literally examine code for S2M myself to get a few things done.

I just found this video:
http://www.s2member.com/videos/eN6pod12TdjxqihtvSecAUdFj8J4YVRX/
But you would need to know some PHP.. shortcode conditionals would be MUCH easier though.
It would have been helpful if the video showed HOW to use dynamic info and how to escape the variables like he says is possible. Now, have to spend even more time learning PHP dev vs just getting the job done.
Its fine, never can learn enough.. but when it comes to having to get something like this done time is of the essence.

Yea, not so much JUST for user/pass, S2M already does fine with that. But in that Welocme email that ALL get, I do need to convey some specific Member only text vs Free Subscriber text.. ala conditionals.
Yea, for me, with S2M Pro under General Options -> Email Config, is the following which is basically a welcome email:
New User Email Message (click to customize)
This email is sent to all new Users/Members. It should always contain their Username/Password. In addition to this email, s2Member will also send new paying Customers a Signup Confirmation Email, which you can customize from your Dashboard, under: s2Member -› PayPal® Options. You may wish to customize these emails further, by providing details that are specifically geared to your site.

Not really sure how your install works.. but all emails come from S2M for me as of right now. New free subscriber and paying members.
At one time I did ‘turn off’ email notifications from S2M and used WP, but that doesn’t allow for key info from S2M that gets sent to paying members.
But I’ll check out MailChimp that may help.
|
|
Yea I get what your saying, but I’m talking about something far more simple. S2M Pro already sends an email for new free subscriber and 2 for a paying member. The ONE email I need to have different text for is the initial “Welcome” to the site email. Right now that one email is sent to EVERY signup and free subscriber.
So one could still have that one outgoing welcome email, but if say S2M conditionals could be used that would allow admin to create email for just about ANY circumstance.

I have not had a single day where members have been added to the system consistently, I’ve had to manually add members each day since installing this plugin. I have for the passed 3 days replied to your support email like I was told to do with subscription IDs that are NOT being added. Have not gotten a response yet.
On the occasion that a member is added, the subscription ID is missing! If this is the case, how can s2member know to remove them from paying member status.. as there is no sub ID to even refer to?
Now, I am asking myself do I have to monitor when EACH member’s subscription time is up to manually remove them?
Really frustrating.

I really wish I had known it would take more than 2 days for support before paying for this.

Can I PLEASE get some support for this issue, am having to manually complete the process for every member sign up.. PLEASE.

As I look over some of this code, I befuttled why S2M just doesn’t let CCbill do user/pass and simply use API / webhooks and DataLink to write to/from their system vs trying to control all of this at a WP install?
I’ve dev’d on numerous other sites where this was accomplished FAR simpler than chopping up paypal functions you have working with PayPal to work with CCbill. I’ve seen just API and Webhooks minus even using datalink handle the entire ccbill system including affiliates.. just a thought.

Importing the following as per instructions, did a csv and even single line.. puts Sub ID in field for Custom Capabilities error!
“ID”,”Username”,”Password”,”First Name”,”Last Name”,”Display Name”,”Email”,”Registration Date”,”Custom Value”,”Paid Subscr. ID”,”Paid Subscr. Gateway”
“”,”Marjorieb56s”,””,”Marjorie”,”Johnson”,”Marjorie Johnson”,”heremail@aol.com”,”10/14/2012″,”www.site.com|grandfathered”,”02155555555555555961″,”ccbill”
