Thanks for your inquiry. ~ We appreciate your patience :-)

If you disabled Custom Passwords in your s2Member® General Options, they should NOT be displayed in default WordPress® Registration forms, or in s2Member® Pro Forms. Can you please post a link to your registration form so we can see what you’re dealing with? Thanks!

It sounds like you need some additional CSS to modify things within your custom theme. The snippet I provided previously fixed one issue, but if you’re trying to manipulate various areas of your theme, you should probably install something like FireBug and brush up on your CSS a bit.

Thanks for the heads up on this thread :-)

s2Member® can certainly accomplish that business model for you. You just need a Free Registration Pro Form Shortcode that’s configured to provide up to X days/week/months of free access @ Membership Level #1; then to expire automatically — demoting them back down to a Free Subscriber status.

So your thinking about Membership Level #0 might need to altered just a bit.

– Free Registration provides access to Membership Level #1 in your business model.
– Upgrading from Free to Paid, moves them to Membership Level #2 in your business model.
– If they don’t upgrade, they are automatically demoted to Level #0 (a Free Subscriber); where they lose access to whatever you were making available at Level #1.

See: Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Authorize.Net® Pro Forms -› Free Registration Forms

Here is a quick example for you.

[s2Member-Pro-AuthNet-Form register="1" level="1" ccaps="" desc="Signup now, it's Free!" custom="www.example.com" tp="30" tt="D" captcha="clean" /]

This provides 30 days of free access at Membership Level #1. If you introduce a Pro Form that upgrades them to Level #2 during their Free Trial, that’s fine. If they choose not to upgrade, they are demoted to a Free Subscriber at Membership Level #0 automatically after 30 days (e.g. level="1" tp="30" tt="D").

Correct. The current version of Quick Cache remains functional in WordPress® v3.5.1, tested up to WordPress® v3.6-alpha with no issues. I’m going to release an update pretty soon. The next major release of this plugin will also be coming very soon (i.e. within the next month or two).

If i choose my regular categories, and also featured, who is free. Will this override the otheres? Or do i need to place my articles just under featured to have them as free material?

s2Member® will check ALL of the Category Restrictions, and a User/Member must satisfy all of them. Therefore, if you have a Post inside both the free and protected Categories, that Post will require Membership; simply because it also exists in a protected Category.

Or do i need to place my articles just under featured to have them as free material?

Correct.

Just wondering if s2Member and Simple:Press will always be compatible? Will s2Member ever upgrade Simple:Press to the same status as bbpress as far as complete integration, now and into the future?

I won’t say never. But I will say that it’s unlikely.

I have had vbulletin forum software which is great but there is no integration with s2Member. Therefore, I installed bbpress, but it looks very amateurish in comparison to the demo model of Simple:Press.

Has anyone had experience with both of these forum plugins, and what is your opinion and recommendations as to which one is best?

I can understand why you would have that impression at first. However, I think you’ll find that bbPress® is quite powerful and easily extensible. Think of bbPress® more like WordPress® itself. When you install WordPress® initially, it also has the impression of being very simple — but it shines in it’s extensibility. That’s what bbPress® is. It just needs a better theme and maybe toss in some bbPress plugins to achieve anything more that you need. Authored by the same development team. See: http://codex.bbpress.org/

While I’m not aware of any issues between s2Member® and SimplePress, our focus will be on the s2Member/bbPress combination in terms of forum functionality and compatibility.

I’ve been trying to do this via the ‘Paypal Button Code Generator For Specific Post/Page Buttons’ and I can set the time limit. but the page I [think I] have set up to use, doesn’t appear in the ‘select a leading post/page that you’ve protected’ drop-down list – so I’m getting nowhere with it.

If the Post or Page is not appearing in this list, it is probably because the Post or Page that you’re trying to sell also requires Membership Level Access. These two functionalities can be mixed together, but the content that you’re selling cannot be. In other words, you can’t sell Specific Post/Page Access, to a Post or Page that already requires a Membership.

Please create a new Post or Page in WordPress® (do NOT protect it from Members).
Instead, protect it with s2Member’s Specific Post/Page Access Restrictions.
Now the Post or Page will appear in the list when you generate a Payment Button.

Yes, that is correct. The free trial needs to expire first.
There are some additional details about the way s2Member® handles this in your Dashboard.

Thanks for reporting this important issue.

I think contacting the theme developer would be a good idea. It sounds to me like your theme is applying content filters to the output generated by the Shortcode (which is never good). Some themes expose special tags you can wrap around Shortcodes to overcome this limitation. Generally speaking though, it’s not a good idea for a theme to manipulate content generated by WordPress® Shortcodes; because plugin developers expect that Shortcodes will output raw HTML — they won’t expect any special handling in this case.

Thanks for your patience.

As far as I know it is NOT the same.
However, you will need to confirm this with PayPal to be sure.
The question you should ask is as follows…

Ask PayPal this question please:
Does PayPal Integral Evolution support communication via PayPal Pro APIs?

I posted this question here myself.
See: https://www.x.com/developers/paypal/forums/general-support/paypal-integral-evolution

If it does, then you can use PayPal Integral Evolution.
See: https://cms.paypal.com/fr/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=merchantservices/paypal_integral_evolution

However, please note that PayPal does NOT list France as a supported country here.
See: https://www.x.com/developers/paypal/products/international-availability

Please let me know what PayPal tells you. I’m very curious to know if this works also.

@TheTwister (James), your account is now accessible. Thanks for your patience.
Please note that we allow up to 10 unique IP addresses every 30 days.
If you exceed that limit in some way, this may occur again.

Thanks for your patience.

I just reviewed your installation and your s2Member Shortcodes. I actually find only one s2Member Pro Form Shortcode on your site; and it exists in a test page that you created. Upon testing this Page of yours (and also one of my own tests on your site), I find that s2Member’s Pro Form is working properly, and the reCAPTCHA box is present. Please let me know what I’ missing. Thanks!

FYI: This registration page (http://rsdcrps.org/register/) is powered by BuddyPress and not be s2Member®. This is NOT a Pro Form, and it will not exhibit functionality commonly associated with s2Member® Pro Forms. I think this might be a point of confusion in this thread?

To protect only a few Pages , please see this section of your Dashboard.
Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› Page Access Restrictions
Or, when you create or edit a Page or Post, you will find Restriction Options for that Page or Post.

It seems this may have happened to my latest user… but with one additional twist. I created the button as non-recurring annual payment, but the registering user was processed as a recurring annual user. I know this because I received an e-mail from Paypal indicating the recurring annual subscription was cancelled.

I just reviewed your s2Member® log files. I find that all of s2Member’s IPN processing on your installation has been against log entries related to “Buy Now” transactions. I did not find any with txn_type=subscr_signup.

Repeats of this — indicating “Buy Now” transactions…

'txn_type' => 'web_accept',
'item_name' => 'Pay What You Want Membership / 1 Year',
'mc_currency' => 'USD',
'item_number' => '1::1 Y',
'residence_country' => 'US',

Is it possible that you have another software integrated with the same PayPal® account? I have no idea why PayPal® would be sending you any notices related to “Subscriptions”, because from what I’m seeing in your log files, there has been no activity like this between s2Member® and PayPal.

And to support the original post, the paying subscriber does not appear in my database, at all. I’m running Multisite (not offering blogs) and have checked both User areas, and the user is not present.

This is the first time I have experienced this problem, and the only difference between the last user and this one was the recent upgrade.

Please post a reference to this User (i.e. a Transaction ID, or something we can use to backtrace this particular case in your logs and we’ll report back on this for you). Thanks!

Note… it appears that you’ve integrated with PayPal® Buttons and not with Pro Forms. With PayPal® Buttons the customer registers AFTER checkout is completed. Therefore, it is always possible (though unlikely) that a paying customer would either choose not to register after checkout; or that a customer was unable to reach the registration page after checkout (i.e. they never received an email receipt, or they got lost after checkout). You might consider moving to Pro Forms to prevent this possibility.

See: Knowledge Base » s2Member® Pro Forms

Daniel

I’ve noticed that occasionally (maybe 10% of the time) someone will purchase a membership, and their paypal payment will go through correctly but they will get no opportunity to register (ie, after they pay, they are not redirected to the registration page.) Some users report never receiving an email — others say that the link in the email gives them the error “Your link expired.”

Once you have log files we’ll investigate this for you as well. I’m not aware of any widespread problems like this, but taking a look at your log files should unveil the underlying cause. It sounds like s2Member’s post-processing is failing once in awhile on your installation. Have you experienced any server connectivity issues in or around the times when this occurred? Have you enabled logging since your original post?

Thanks for your patience.

I just reviewed your installation and I find no problems reported in your log files. I also ran diagnostics and everything seems to be functional on your installation. That is, I discovered no issues. Did you resolve the underlying problem already? If so, may I ask what you corrected?

If the problem still exists, please reply back and we’ll also run a set of test transactions for you.

Thanks for your patience.

I’ve just completed a review of your installation. However, I was unable to reproduce the issue that you described. Please see the attached screenshot, which does indicate that Open Registration is disabled on this Child Blog of your Network.

Possible solution for you…
If you have previously run test transactions, it’s possible that you have cookies authorizing you to register on this site. If that’s the case, your test could be returning false positive results. Please try clearing your cookies before testing again.
