Thanks Bruno. Got the email and did a couple tests. The error about not having access to the file, was because the Basic Download Restrictions were not configured. Once configured, I got the other error you mentioned about openssl_sign. I emailed Jason asking him about this, I’ll let you know when I hear back from him. :) |

Right, ?s2member_file_download=example-file.zip would give the file s2member-files/example-file.zip. s2Member serves files as an attachment (download) by default, unless you specify the extension to be inline. Please read the documentation here and tell me what your setting has: [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Download Options -› Inline File Extensions[/hilite] |

James, Bruno, s2Member never applies a restriction to the admin. If it says you don’t have access to the file despite being logged in as the admin, I’d suspect something wrong with your admin session. Things that come to mind: – Your session expired and need to login again. – You have a mix of www and without it in your URLs, please see this article: Knowledge Base » Don't mix www and without – You were logged in under another account that doesn’t have enough access for that download. Both can send your login info through the contact form, including the URL to the page where you have this problem. Let us know when you sent the email so we look for it, please. s2Member® » Private Contact Form James, it looks like your code may have been altered because it wasn’t inside code tags. Could you post it again inside HTML code tags, please? Thanks. |

Hi Takis. That is the way WordPress does it. I guess there may be a plugin that lets you change that, though. Maybe this one: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mailfrom-ii/ I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Marko. You could make them get an email with their password generated by WordPress, so they’ll have to use a real email address if they want to login. Disable custom passwords from here: [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Registration/Profile Fields -> Allow Custom Passwords during Registration[/hilite] I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Johnny. What is the URL to your login page? Are you using the default /wp-login.php or a custom page you created for that? |

Hi Chase. The thing is that the Amazon integration that s2Member does, is to restrict access to downloads you want to protect. The Amazon integration is not for the s2Member files themselves, so configuring that integration doesn’t do what you’re asking for. You can upload the s2Member image files to Amazon, but then you’d need to point all URLs to those copies instead of the ones in the plugins directory. You can either edit s2Member’s files to change all links to the images, or you could try creating a rewrite rule in .htaccess so that all requests are redirected to your Amazon copy. You can also check the caching plugins available for WordPress, some of them integrate with Amazon to upload a copy of some files there, so they can be served faster. I know theme and uploaded files would be copied to Amazon, but I don’t know if it includes plugin files too. I hope that helps. :) |

Genie, please upload the PHP script (Server Check Tool) to your WordPress folder and open it in the browser. Do you get any warnings or errors?
Yeah, it’s best to just test with live transactions, in my opnion. Did you make sure you reconfigured the Paypal integration with the proper credentials from your live account, instead of the Sandbox ones? |

No, no date yet, Jon. If you need it now, I think it’ll be quicker to write your own customization. |

Hi Dean. This would be a more general WordPress question, not just s2Member. I think it’d be best to ask in a WordPress forum, I’m sure there’ll be guys there that’d know how to answer this. I’m not sure if this article will help you with this, though: Knowledge Base » Troubleshooting Email Delivery Problems I hope it helps. :) |

Hi Johnny. Could you show me the URL or shortcode you’re using for the link? It doesn’t really matter if the URL to the file is visible, since the file would only be served to those that have the proper access to it. About the file opening in QuickTime, what’s the behavior you want? For the video to open in an embedded player in the page, or a download to start? Are your files in Amazon or in the s2member-files folder? |

It wouldn’t be a fix, since it’s not broken, it’s just a different format. The new s2Member doesn’t have a release date yet, but we’ll announce it as soon as we have one. :) |

Cascading Style Sheets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascading_Style_Sheets If you want to customize this but don’t know how, it would be best to hire a freelancer for the job. You can try sites like jobs.wordpress.net, elance.com or odesk.com |

Of course, I can understand that. Well, it can be done if you use WP hooks, but I didn’t see one available to do this hack on EOT. There may be one available on user creation/editing, though. Maybe this one? http://adambrown.info/p/wp_hooks/hook/set_user_role |

The URL I tried would still work with the Amazon integration. Please read this: [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Download Options -› Advanced Mod-Rewrite Linkage[/hilite] The problem with the other URL you posted, is that it’s missing the [hilite mono]www.[/hilite]. I could download the file after adding it. Please read this: Knowledge Base » Don't mix www and without I hope that helps. :) |

Thank you sooo much for explaining what you needed to do for it to work. I’ll be sure to update the article with this, because I’m sure it’ll be useful to others. :) About the double opt-in, have you asked AWeber support if it can be done and how? |

I see. Thanks for confirming that. Well, s2Member just generates a URL to the file so Amazon will let you download it, but the serving is done by Amazon, so you could see if it’s something to do with the settings for it. Try Amazon’s support, they should know if there’s a setting for this behavior (i.e. open/download). |

Hi Jimmy.
Glad you fixed it. Did you use the Alternative View protection? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› Alternative View Protection[/hilite] If you want part of your post to show in the homepage, you can use the WordPress “more” tag, then the post will be shown up to that with a link to go to the actual post, which is protected and will send the person to the Membership Options page.
Thanks for the kudos! :) |

Glad you sorted it out. Thanks for the update. :) Yes, it’d be good to have a button for that. I’ll add it to the feature requests list. Thanks! |

I’m not sure why you get that error if you have openssl_sign in your server. I emailed Jason asking what else could be happening. Can you send the site’s info in case Jason needs it to review your installation? s2Member® » Private Contact Form |
