Hi Sheila.

Some of the members want to renew their membership via paypal but we can’t seem to find a way to allow this to happen via the membership section.

Do these members already have a subscription with you running in their PayPal account? When you say renew, you mean they had cancelled that subscription? Or was their access a one-time payment (PayPal’s “buy now”) instead of recurring payments?

Hi Deyson.

Yeah, that seems to be correct. :)

Hi Johnny.

s2Member only integrates with Amazon Web Services (S3 and CloudFront) for file hosting outside of the default s2member-files folder in the hosting account that has your WordPress installation.

You can use those other cloud services, but s2Member wouldn’t be able to restrict access to them.

Why isn’t Amazon an option?

Right, each shortcode gets parsed when the page is loaded, and it gets slower if you’re using button encryption.

If these will always be shown to new users, not logged in members, then you could create the buttons over at PayPal, integrated with s2Member follow these instructions: Knowledge Base » Using PayPal created buttons

Those would not work to upgrade existing accounts, since no account info is included in those buttons, while using the shortcodes adds the logged in user’s account info to the button.

Hi Luis.

The redirected, what are the variables in the URL? Could you paste it here? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / Scripting -› Membership Options Page Variables (MOP Vars)[/hilite]

For s2Member to redirect the person to the Membership Options page, some restriction must have been applied to the page you use as Home.

Cool. :)

Hi Hari.

Well, I don’t know if it’s more efficient, but there’s the Specific Page Sale Notification. I’m not sure if that’s practical to use with Google Analytics, since I’m not familiar with how to use that service, but it seems you’d be able to tell. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / Notifications -› Specific Post/Page Sale Notifications[/hilite]

I hope that helps. :)

Hi Kim.

If you enter the gateway and subscr. ID in their profiles, then notifications from the gateway regarding the payment will update the user’s EOT time if needed.

The EOT time should be left blank for subscriptions, since it’ll be populated when the subscription ends. If you enter a time manually, then changes in the subscription won’t affect it anymore, the entered time is the one that’ll be used.

I hope that helps. :)

James, could you confirm that you have the video.mp4 file in your Amazon bucket? I tried http://www.theschoolofinternetmarketing.com/wp-content/plugins/s2member-files/video.mp4 and get sent to the Membership Options page, with the URL showing that I need to be logged in to open it, but I can’t tell if it’s there or not. I tried a filename I invented and got redirected the same way.

And if you could send your site’s info, I could take a look to see if I spot what’s causing your problem. s2Member® » Private Contact Form

Bruno, no, I don’t have any news regarding the encryption error you are getting yet.

Selling an independent custom capability is the way to add a custom capability to a user’s account without changing their subscriptions status.

These sales can only be buy-now transactions, and there isn’t a way to give them for free yet, except editing their profiles manually.

You could create a hack that under certain circumstances, or through a certain trigger, would give the user a certain capability. Knowledge Base » Changing Roles/Capabilities via PHP

I hope that helps. :)

Hi Donn.

Custom profile fields are possible in the free version of s2Member. :)

Export of users is possible in the Pro version, but all users are exported, no filters are available yet.

No problem. :)

Ah, I see what you mean. None of the s2Member Levels will be an admininstrator, not even the highest. The administrator will have access as the highest level, but the highest level is not an administrator. All the s2Member levels are based on the Subscriber role. You can test this adding more levels and looking at them with the User Role Editor. :)

Hi Bryan.

My best advice regarding this, would be to avoid using the Sandbox if you can. It can add problems of its own, that you wouldn’t have at all with live transactions, so it’s not worth the trouble. It’s much better to test with live, 1 cent transactions.

Also, make sure you have logging enabled, so you have data avaialable on the transactions, that’ll assist to solve any problem you have. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Account Details -› Logging[/hilite]

I hope that helps. :)

Hi Addison.

This was killing me all day, so i finally completely re-configured my s3/cloudfront (deleted all credentials, made new keys, allowed s2member to setup new streams), but this did not resolve the issue.

Did you just delete the settings in the interface, save and then reentered them? To reset it fully, you may want to use this: http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/cloudfront-err-400-unable-to-del-existing/#post-15884

After that, test the stream again, please.

I hope that helps. :)

I’ve done this, how do I find the results?

Once you uploaded the PHP file to the WP directory, open it in your browser, the results will be displayed there.

I’ve noticed that when I add paypal “buynow” buttons to my page, it drastically slows down the loading time of the page that they are on.

Could you try the suggestions in this article? Knowledge Base » Common Troubleshooting Tips

Please let us know how it goes. :)

The s2Member Level roles are basically like the WordPress Subscriber role, plus the s2Member Level Access capabilities for that level and lower (Level 4 role gets access to level 4, level 3, etc.). You can take a look at their capabilities using the User Role Editor plugin. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-role-editor/

Does that help? :)

Hi Valerie.

I’m not sure what you mean by units. s2Member doesn’t have a credits/units/points system to get access. Access can be purchased with money or free. If you need something different, you’d have to custom code it.

You don’t need to set up a level for each price depending on the time they’re paying for in advance. The same level can be sold at different prices, but the prices are set in the shortcode for the button or pro-form you use to sell it.

Regardless of what price you sold it for or for how long, Level 1 will be the same for all users at Level 1, although the EOT (end of term) time will change depending on what option he chose to purchase.

Does that help?
