Nigel, did you have the Deactivation Safeguards enabled before doing the update? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Deactivation Safeguards[/hilite]

What version did you upgrade from?

I’m going to reinstall a previous version, protect some pages and update to the latest again, to see if I can reproduce this.

Hi Mike.

Also, please make sure you have set a Membership Options Page, the restrictions won’t be active before that. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Membership Options Page[/hilite]

I hope it helps.

Hi Daniel.

s2Member limits it to what PayPal will accept. If s2Member is giving you a message saying that the term is not valid, then it’s because it won’t work when sent to PayPal. These limitations have been reviewed recently and are up-to-date as far as I know.

You could give them a new custom capability and edit your conditionals in the the menu so that those with that capability get it sooner. Same in the actual page that gets dripped, the condition that shows the content or not, would need to be updated with this too.

I hope that helps. :)

Jason confirmed that PayPal would not email a customer that paid you on your site.

Not unless they went through PP express checkout, so no.

If they entered a credit card on-site, they will only get an email from s2Member (i.e. the Signup Confirmation Email for Pro Forms).

Thanks for the tip, Dave! Will certainly check it out. Glad you solved your issue. :)

We recently started using a tool Jason developed to assses the server and see if we can spot a problem. Feel free to try it: http://www.s2member.com/r/server-check-tool/

I see. You mean the autologin after registration, right? I don’t know which version you had. You can post it here inside code tags. I think I haven’t touched that hack in a year, really. What improved when you removed it?

If you’re getting paid on-site, and not on PayPal, I don’t know that PayPal would send an email. I’ll ask Jason.

Does the s2Member confirmation email get sent? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Signup Confirmation Email[/hilite]

Right, the “future release” is a rewrite of s2Member that is being developed. Today’s release was an update to the current s2Member.

The order data is not stored in the database, it’s stored in the gateway. The user info is stored in usermeta, including the subscription ID if he has one.

In the new s2Member we are going to be storing purchase info in the database, but it’s not available yet.

I don’t know a way to prevent an affiliate from using his own aff link to purchase cheaper. You could either screen the affiliates you sign up, so people that will realy promote you get a link, and not just a regular customer. Another option is to set a commission amount to be reached before you pay the it, that way they’ll have to promote a bit to get paid, in which case it shouldn’t matter that they got a discount on their own copy.

Great, glad it works for you. Thanks for the kudos. :)

Ian, could you try the new version of s2Member released today? I has some fixes ot the PayFlow integration. Try a few 1 cent live transactions and let us know how it goes, please. :)

I’ll stick this conversation to see if more users see it and add to it.

Hi Frank.

You could update your s2Member to the latest release of the framework and the pro add-on, just to rule out the possibility of something that was fixed in the latest releases.

Are you making sure you’re not logged in to your admin account when you test the purchase? Just checking.

Have you added any hacks in your mu-plugins? /wp-content/mu-plugins/

Have you tested deactivating other plugins one by one and testing after each to make sure this problem isn’t something caused by a conflict?

I see. Old topics get closed automatically by the forum, sorry.

No, I don’t know how to prevent a user with create_users capability from creating an Admin. This is really a WordPress question and I’m not familiar with that enough to give you an answer. You should google it or ask in the WP forums, you’re more likely to find the solution there.

I don’t know why WP would allow something like that. In my opinion, a user should not be able to give roles/capabilities that he doesn’t have himself. It’s a security issue.

Hi Jason.

If your gallery is in a page served by WordPress, you can use the s2Member URI restriction to protect it. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› URI Access Restrictions[/hilite]

I hope that helps. :)

Hi Lisa.

You could use the payments notification with a script you create to email the user. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / Notifications -› Payment Notifications[/hilite]

We’re going to make this much simpler in the future, so the email can be set up in the admin interface directly.

And, as with other PayPal services, probably the best way to test your transactions is to do real, live transactions for 1 cent, even if you had the Sandbox option. Really, avoiding the extra complications that the PayPal testing environment adds is worth every cent you spend with live 1 cent transactions.

Hi Bob.

You mean the expiration time for the CF URL s2Member generates?

also, where does the code “live”…if i wanted to access the streams to use in a json feed to a web based video app?

You mean use the URL to the file in CF in another application? You can use the URLs with querystring or without it, as explained in [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Download Options[/hilite], it doesn’t have to be a shortcode.

Hi Edward.

Yes, it’s in the s2Member CSS file, but you can style that from your own. The selector would be [hilite mono]div.s2member-pro-paypal-form-description-div[/hilite]. You may need to use [hilite mono]!important[/hilite] to make your style have a higher priority. http://coding.smashingmagazine.com/2010/11/02/the-important-css-declaration-how-and-when-to-use-it/

I hope that helps. :)

Posted: Friday Jun 8th, 2012 at 3:53 pm #15954

Hi Edward.

Yes, it will be in the new major release of s2Member, currently under development. :)

Posted: Friday Jun 8th, 2012 at 3:45 pm #15950

The billing address goes to the gateway to process the payment, and isn’t stored by s2Member. The custom fields are not created specifically for addresses, so there isn’t an integration between the two. Though I can see what you mean and I’ll talk this with Jason to see what we could do.
