…. I do mean to get back to you about this issue w/more details, it’s just that I’ve had to disable all download confirmation for the time being due to a conflict w/another plug-in. ~J |

…. yes it does. The attribute is for a lightbox script. I also set the inline extensions to alway play this type of video inline (webm)….. but s2m still pops-up the download conf mssg. THe only thing that suppresses it is implementing the global s2hacks.php file (muplugins). Any idea of how i might fool s2member into thinking it’s ok to play the file w/o confirmation? |

MYSTERY SOLVED. sort of. Do i get a prize for uncovering two bugs / anomalies in the system in one day? 1) see above for the possible excel issue w/import -export 2) Cris was right about the underscore character — i_does cause strange problems. It looks like all of my issues with some videos refusing to load/play in Safari +++ issues with the jwplayer reading a file embedded using the custom code provided on s2m (see above : refusing to load file) — have_all_disappeared! I hope you can replicate these issues and revise your documentation. It’s bound to come up again with other users and causes a big headache. I lost more than a day on this, but now it looks good. BTW it would be incrediblly useful to see a FULL example of a jwplayer embed using all shortcodes + advanced option blocks included – base 64 encoded! >> playlist with dual video resolutions, multiple captions, extra mayo. |

UPdate on this : i got the import to work using a plain text editor only. Every time i open w/excel (ver 14, mac), make changes and save as csv the import fails. You should probably see if you can repeat this, and if so — edit this text on s2m: “Open CSV files with Notepad, MS Excel, or OpenOffice (recommended).” I’ll let you know what i find out about ccap names with underscores. Note though, that level names by default contain an underscore but i’m still hopeful. |

yes, and I’ve actually decided to do -away with all underscores in the ccaps names (my site has several) BUT — now i cannot get the user import function to work! i have updated all pages (hundreds) to the new ccap names and now i simply cannot update the user accounts (>500) !!! this is bad. I have simply exported (using Default option), changed the ccaps column — nothing else — saved in same csv format and imported. Nothing. The s2member feedback confirms this: “Operation complete. Users/Members imported: 0.” (I imported w/o including the admin line) What am i doing wrong? I am really in a bind now that i’ve revised every page’s ccaps, The site will be down before i spend the hours to change again every page (~200). |

thanks for the clarity Bruce — makes sense …. and it did indeed work with my mp4 placed in the default s2m folder. But i can’t seem to get it to play from a ccap -specific dir! Here’s the playlist item with it’s path:
…. the ccap dir is called access-s2member-ccap-series_1 (the ccap = “series_1”) jwplayer just SPINS forever. |

Ok am trying that (it’s not cloudfront/amazon btw) — but i do not understand the instructions here: your info says the path to the file within the player should be this: …. Does that mean i need to create and place the file in a dir named “s2memberinline” ?? What iof i’m using separate ccap folders? My current existing path looks like this: domain/wp-content/plugins/s2member-files/access-s2member-ccap-my_ccap –??? |

nope — it’s still there. Open reg is turned-off but the registration link on the login page is still there. I tried emptying the cache (wordpress). Have a look and tell me if you see it: |

hmmm that’s weird. The troubling thing is that other people (not just me) are seeing this link also. Could it be the wordpress cache? I’m cleaning that now… will let you know. |

… on the login page — there is always a link to register even with “open reg” turned -off! This really surprised me. |

Hi Crsitián … it’s actually (the css file) inside the plugins/s2member/include folder (s2member.css). I’m happy with the page and besides, it would be a little trick to reproduce it as it’s got a button for the user to contine to registration and etc. This page is fine once styled — and in the forum docs it’s said that one can simply “place the css for this “page” in one’s main theme css file…” Well, that’s not the case! I wonder if maybe the css that this page template calls needs to be changed so that it calls the theme css… in any event, if true it would still get zarked-out upon updating s2member. |

Thanks Bruce — I just wanted to make sure i wasn;t using the special post/page feature incorrectly (ie, newbie). I’m doing it with caps now. The name of the game is UN-facilitating sharing of content — making it less convenient. Studies show that people are far less apt to share when they need to lend a password or zip and ftp a file etc. I would love to see an s2m feature that issues an expiring scrambled link to something within the protected files folder! ~J |

Well I guess this was not too well received ;-) Sorry for the criticism guys — it’s just that the specific page/post option is really only good for selling just that: an article. I think it’s a bad idea to promote it in the s2member docs as “a great way” to present purchased downloads. The wise thing to do is simply make the page protected via standard access restriction ;-) |

I want to be able to offer restricted page access as well as make it less EASY for the person buying to share the download link with the world. In other words: The specific page/post is a url that expires — i thought that the url to anything linked as a download would be as well. That’s why I assumed I could link from within the s2member folder. I realize that even if the download url were to expire, the customer could still download the item and post on the internet for all-time — but that is much more difficult than simply giving away the url to the customer — a url that will work as long as the file is on the server. I guess I don’t get what the point is of restricting page access if the url to the downloadable — the main thing one wants to “restrict” is simply given away. |

Thanks for responding Eduan — I’ve re-built the page with the buttons (regular pp buttons) and now *magically* it works fine — all 3 buttons. Sorry — must have been something like a misplaced comma etc. I do, however have another question that is rather urgent. I am going to post it in a new topic now — it’s a related issue (specific page/post buy now) ~J |

Thanks Jason — spent yesterday reading the knowledge base and learning. I am so happy with the insanely great documentation (!) Using the simple login redirects and some conditionals right on the page I’m really surprised how much even a non-coder can control functionality and presentation. I’m going to post another question about PayPal that maybe you can answer. |

You guys must *love helping non-coders ;-) ….and then i am going to pick up this custom variable in the email message by calling up %%cv1%% If that’s correct my only question would be, why do i need to do this when the button already knows that the ccaps is “top_secret_content” …. ? |

Obrigado Cristân — so if i understand this you are saying that the replacement coed for ccaps is already there as long as i passed it through the paypal button — i just need to use it. And so i’ll just use %%ccaps%% in the email template and that’s it? Custom Capabilities: %%ccaps%% |
