Gary, s2Member is a WordPress plugin and does not currently create its own database or tables. It works alongside WordPress. So, your question is really one about WordPress itself and not the s2Member plugin. The s2Member Multisite feature allows you to offer the s2Member plugin to sub-sites, giving your sub-sites the ability to setup and use s2Member on their own. When you upgrade s2Member on the primary site, the s2Member plugin is automatically updated for all your sub-sites. s2Member scalability is directly related to the scalability of WordPress itself and the resources necessary will depend on the number of WordPress blogs you’re running. We have customers using s2Member with thousands of users and hundreds of sub-blogs. For specific questions about multi-site databases with WordPress, I recommend posting a question on the WordPress.org Support Forums. |

Hi Jim, You’d need to modify the s2Member code to make this work. That would involve editing core files that would be overwritten during an upgrade. If possible, I recommend moving the form higher up on the page so it’s not necessary to reload down to the bottom. |

Hi Jim, If you’re using s2Member Pro-Forms with PayPal Pro to accept credit cards on your site, then you should be protecting the Pro-Forms page with SSL so that credit cards submitted to PayPal are sent securely via SSL. If you’re not using PayPal Pro to accept credit cards on your site, then you don’t need to protect your page with SSL since s2Member will redirect the purchaser to a secure URL on PayPal to complete the checkout. I suggest trying to access your Membership Options Page via SSL by manually changing the URL to https://, instead of appending the ?s2-ssl=yes to the URL. If you still have the redirect problem, try the same thing with a different (public) page on your site. Can you access any URLs on your site using SSL? If not, then it sounds like you might have a problem with the SSL configuration on your server (in which case I suggest contacting your web host). |

You mentioned that you were using the “secure file uploader plugin” to upload the files. Have you tried uploading the files via FTP? It’s possible that plugin is causing the problem. |

Hi Adam, You are correct that there is no built-in account approval process in s2Member. If you wish to manually approve accounts, we recommend assigning all users to Level 1, paid or otherwise, and then manually approving them by editing their account and changing their level to a higher level (e.g., Level 2). The action of changing their account to Level 2 effectively “approves” the account. All of your content would be protected to Level 2 or higher, so that new members don’t have access until you approve their account. You can also try using a plugin like WP Approve User. Since s2Member uses the WordPress user base and authentication system, it should work. However, we make no guarantees. The best way to find out if it works is to try it. :) |

Joe, s2Member does not use AWeber to send passwords. The s2Member AWeber integration is designed to add new members to a specific AWeber mailing list — that’s it. The s2Member account password is sent through your WordPress site directly to the user. If the user isn’t receiving that email, I suggest following the instructions here: Knowledge Base » Troubleshooting Email Delivery Problems |

Hi Jeroen, To disable the WP Admin Bar, add the following code to your theme’s functions.php file:
To manually set the login/logout link, you can simply change the code to something like this:

Hi Frank, If you want to offer your purchaser a login, you cannot use the Specific Page/Post But Now buttons; you must use a Level access button/form (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms -› Membership Level # Forms). If you wish to sell individual items, you can do that by assigning each post/page a specific Custom Capability and then include that Custom Capability in the signup forms when you create them. Once someone has purchased something from you, they’ll need to login to make additional purchases. You’ll create a second page for logged in members that lists additional products and use Capability ( Buy Now ) forms (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms -› Capability (Buy Now) Forms) to sell existing members additional products. When a logged in member purchases an additional Custom Capability, that Custom Capability is added to their account, thereby giving them access to whatever content has been tagged with that ccap. See the video below for more information on Custom Capabilities:

Jim, You could add a menu item manually by editing your theme’s header.php file, or if your theme supports custom menus you can do it through Appearance -> Menus, and point the link to your login page (e.g., /wp-login.php). |

Hi Mitch, Ross is correct: The URL is being generated to give your purchaser access to either a specific post/page or access to the registration page after signup (assuming you’re not using Pro-Forms). |

Hi Hugh, s2Member uses the WordPress user base, so if your existing subscribers exist within WordPress as users, you won’t need to do anything to start offering a premium level of service to them (they will simply login and purchase the premium level using an s2Member-generated button, which will then upgrade their account to a higher level after purchase). I recommend downloading and installing the free version of the plugin to see if it fits your needs. The s2Member Pro is simply an add-on to the s2Member Framework (free) that adds additional features. All of the source code is made available for both the free version and the Pro version, so you can make any changes necessary and inspect the code to understand how it works. |

Hi Eran, When you removed the distros over at CF, did you clear out all the fields in s2Member for the integration and save that, before adding a new integration? s2Member shouldn’t be confused about distros already existing if the integration fields are empty, but I’d try clearing out the integration first and starting from zero. As a last restort test, you could always try installing another copy of WordPress in a sub-directory, installing s2Member, and then try configuring CloudFront again. |

Hi Frank, Have you double-checked your PDT integration (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› PayPal® PDT Integration) and your IPN integration (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› PayPal® IPN Integration)? If both of those are definitely correct, please enable logging (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Account Details -› Logging), conduct another test, and then copy/paste the log entries for that transaction from the log files in plugins/s2member-logs/ for us to take a look at. (Please X-out any private information, such as email addresses, before posting.) |

Hi Mark, s2Member integrates with MailChimp and AWeber to provide email services. There are various notification emails that s2Member sends out, but its email features are limited to those. Your best option for automating signup + email list subscription is to use a Pro-Form with a List Server configured to subscribe that new user to a specific email list. Please see Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / List Servers. |

Hello, The Membership Options Page is designed to be the page where you display the signup packages for your various levels — it is not the page where members edit their profile (for that, you’ll need to create a separate page and place the profile editor shortcode in there; see Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Member Profile Modifications). You can use a technique like this to redirect people away from the Membership Options Page. Please post further technical support questions in the Community Forum. If you’d like priority support from s2Member®, please re-post this topic in our Customer Support Forum and we’ll take a closer look for you.

Hi Sacha, We are working on better payment gateway support in the next major release of the plugin. If you need other gateway support for the current version of s2Member, you’ll need to write the necessary custom code. We recommend posting a job on jobs.wordpress.net. |

Sacha, Have you updated your IPN URL in PayPal with the new URL? To the best of my knowledge, PayPal will begin sending new IPN messages for existing subscriptions to the new IPN URL if you update PayPal with it. I could not find any documentation that stated this was not the case. If you know of some, could you link me to it? |

If you’re using s2Member Pro-Forms with a PayPal Express account that also allows buyers to pay without a PayPal account, it works the same way from s2Member’s perspective. The user clicks the Checkout with PayPal button on the s2Member Pro-Form and gets redirected to PayPal. Once on PayPal, the user can either login with the PayPal account or click the “Don’t have a PayPal account?” button to pay with a credit card on PayPal’s website. (If you have PayPal Pro instead of PayPal Express, the user can pay with a credit card on your site.)
Matthew, what type of PayPal account do you have? Also, are you using the s2Member Pro-Forms or the PayPal buttons? I have personally had no problem checking out via PayPal using s2Member and then being able to choose “Don’t have a PayPal account?”. I’ll send a message to the lead developer to see if he can offer any insight.
Confirming billing info and CVV only works if you’re using PayPal Pro. If you’re not using PayPal Pro, you shouldn’t be showing the credit card options on the Pro-Forms. Please see the note below from Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms -› Quick Start Guide:
