Hi Jana,

The s2Member Pro Coupon Codes do not have those features. If you want to auto-generate codes and control the account(s) they can be accessed by, you’ll need to write some custom code to add that functionality. We recommend posting a job over at jobs.wordpress.net.

Hi Ronda,

Did you install the Exec-PHP Plugin? You’ll need that installed and activated to run the PHP code in that snippet.

Hi Julianus,

– can i use a custom gateway for payments?

All of the source code is available, so you can certainly make any customizations, including adding a custom payment gateway.

– can i integrate a different login system (based on shibboleth)?

s2Member uses the WordPress login system. If you wish to use a different login system, you’ll need to make the necessary customizations yourself. As previously mentioned, all the source code is available for you to modify as needed.

– can the subscription to expire every january first?

Yes, you can create subscriptions for a specific length of time. You can also manually set accounts to expire on a specific date (e.g., January 1st).

can you please point me to live sites or live demos that have each method so I can better understand it?

You may want to take a look here. You might also find other sites by browsing through the Community Forum.

no multi-purchases

You can do multiple purchases using the Specific Post/Page Buy Now feature (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Buttons -› Specific Post/Page (Buy Now) Buttons) and if you want to sell existing members additional features, you can do so using the Capability Buy Now feature (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Buttons -› Capability (Buy Now) Buttons).

no PayPal cart
no simple faux cart

Yes, that is correct. The current version of s2Member does not have any shopping cart features. However, we’re looking into possibly adding better functionality in that regard with the next major release of the software.

no form that can list multiple items before checkout

There is no feature built into s2Member to generate such a list, no, but you can certainly modify the Pro-Form templates to your liking. See Pre Sale FAQs » Is it possible to modify s2Member® Pro Form templates?

no user account page of any kind

We do provide a shortcode for generating a Profile Editor form that allows members to update their profile information and change their password: Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Member Profile Modifications

where are the PayPal forms in free S2?

There are no “forms” in the free version of s2Member. The free version allows you to create PayPal buttons that integrate with s2Member: Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Buttons

where are the PayPal forms in Pro S2?

Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms

Hi Karl,

http://www.elizabethmerendino.com is not a sub-domain; that’s a full domain. A sub-domain would be example.thewanderingguru.com.

If your web host has a feature that allows you to add additional full domains on your main hosting account, then you may want to contact them to see what’s going on (they can look at the server log files).

Hi Martyna,

s2Member integrates with email services like MailChimp and AWeber. You would need to migrate your email subscribers over to one of those services, not s2Member itself.

Hi Ronda,

Technical support questions should be asked in the Community Forum, but I’ll go ahead and reply to your questions here:

1. Is there a way for members to receive an automatic upgrade in levels after a certain period of time?

This could be scripted, but you’d need to write that custom script yourself or hire a programmer to do it. Automatic upgrade from one level to another is not currently a feature in s2Member.

2. Is there a way to have a welcome page specific to each membership level after they login?

Yes, this is possible. Please see this thread.

3. I am testing the site and after logging in as a new member I get a message saying “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”. How can I fix this.

That would indicate that the page your user is attempting to access has been restricted somewhere in Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options. It’s possible that the page requires a higher Level of access than your test user has. I suggest checking your Restriction Options and going from there. Keep in mind that restriction options can also be set directly when editing the Post/Page itself using the s2Member panel on the edit page.

Hi Ricarod,

For recurring subscriptions that do not have an expiration date, you should leave the expiration date field empty. The expiration date is only applicable when importing subscriptions that actually have an end date (e.g., a membership that was sold for 1 year of access). Recurring (e.g., monthly) subscriptions effectively do not have an end date — their end date is whenever the user decides to cancel their subscription.

If you have s2Member configured with IPN integration (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› PayPal® IPN Integration) and PDT integration (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› PayPal® PDT Integration), s2Member will receive an IPN message from PayPal when the user decides to cancel their subscription (or if their payment fails several times and PayPal automatically cancels their subscription).

When s2Member receives that cancellation IPN message, it will automatically set the EOT date and process the expiration according to your settings in Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Automatic EOT Behavior.

The important thing to note is that your imported users must contain the PayPal Subscription ID that matches their PayPal subscription and their accounts must be set to use the PayPal gateway (both settings can be set in the import file). When s2Member receives a cancellation IPN message, it looks for the user account with the matching Subscription ID and then sets the EOT date on that account.

Hi Simon,

That functionality would be up to the payment gateway that you’re using and I don’t believe PayPal provides a “pause subscription” feature.

Hi Frank,

When you create the Custom Registration Field, there’s an option to define which Level the field should appear on called Applicable Membership Levels. Simply define the level in there.

Hi Edward,

The next major release of s2Member hasn’t happened yet, but we’re still hard at work on it. There is not currently and ETA but we’ll make an announcement as soon as possible.

Hi Edward,

I do not know of any issues with that feature. Do you have any caching plugin running on WordPress? You might want to try disabling that and running another test. Also, it could be that the user was loading a cached version of the error page on his computer and clearing his browser cache may have been enough to give him access after one hour.

Hi Ryan,

The out of the box settings are all you need. The QuickCache plugin comes configured with the optimal defaults.

good to know, i have PayPal Pro Recurring package turned on right now and have never even been able to figure our how to use it! but i use PayPal Pro in magneto for its stated value prop (users can stay on site + use credit cards) so what is the value of using it with S2

If you create a recurring subscription in s2Member using the Pro-Forms (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms -› Membership Level # Forms and you have PayPal Pro + Recurring package, then you’ll be able to accept credit cards on-site for those recurring subscriptions.

when i here Buy Now i think of the old PayPal buttons that you can make on PayPal.com, but you are talking about your own PayPal buttons i assume. what if using PayPal pro, does it get added to the button code?

Yes, s2Member can generate its own PayPal buttons that are designed to work in conjunction with s2Member. If you’re using PayPal Pro, you should be using the s2Member Pro-Forms (that’s the only way to accept credit cards on-site with s2Member).

so user buys x for 1 month and y for 2 months >

user logs in with a single login? >

and sees x + y in an account? or just automatically has access to x and y via a url? if not an account, how does user know where x and y urls are? >

after one month expires , user logs and an can only see x?

If the user buys access to a piece of content using a Specific Post/Page Buy Now button, no account is created (and logged in members cannot use those buttons). That feature is designed to sell access to a specific post/page on your WordPress site, where you might offer a video or download. After purchase, the user is emailed a special link that gives them access for the length of time you defined when you generated the Specific Post/Page Buy Now button.

Kris,

The Auto-Return URL is not the same as the return page that purchasers see after checkout. The Auto-Return URL is used by s2Member to process the transactions on the back end.

If you use the success= attribute in your shortcodes, then when PayPal sends the visitor to http://mysite.com/wordpress/?s2member_paypal_return=1, s2Member will automatically redirect to the correct URL after checkout.

However, your success= attribute should contain the full URL, e.g. success=”http://mysite.com/thanks/”. You can use a different URL for each shortcode that you generate, so different buttons can redirect purchasers to different places.

Regarding your last question: If you want to sell a specific post or page without requiring membership access (i.e., you want to sell access to a post/page without an account being created for the purchaser), then you should use the Specific Post/Page (Buy Now) Buttons. The Capability (Buy Now) buttons are for selling additional features to existing members.

I just noticed there’s a problem with your code. Please try this instead:

if ($s2member_auto_eot_time = get_user_field ("s2member_auto_eot_time") ) {
	echo date("F j, Y", $s2member_auto_eot_time);
}

Hello,

We are adding support for PayPal Payments Advanced in the next major release of s2Member. There is no current ETA on that release, but we are working hard on it. We will make an announcement about that release as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
