Hello there,

I’m afraid this is not currently possible with s2member. If you want this you’ll have to code it in.

You can protect file/video downloads/streams as long as they’re in your own server. Check under Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Download Options for all the download restrictions.

But if they’re outside your server you really have no way to protect them.

If they’re on Amazon S3 you can protect them, since s2Member is integrated in that way Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Download Options -› Amazon® S3/CDN Storage.

Does this answer your question?

Hello Andrew,

Currently there’s no way to check this AFAIK.

I came up with a quick work-around though. Every time you add ccaps (short for custom capabilities) to users always add the same ccap, for example in every button include a ccap ccap.

Then you just need to check if the user has that ccap in order to know if the has any ccaps at all. :)

For example:

[s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_ccap_ccap)]
Made sure the user has the must-have ccap in order to know if he has any custom capabilities at all. :)

Hello Susan,

I believe we use bbPress for the s2Member forums. :)

Actually, webboy, you should use S2MEMBER_CURRENT_USER_REGISTRATION_TIME.

This returns the Unix timestamp of when the user first registered his username.

S2MEMBER_CURRENT_USER_REGISTRATION_DAYS returns the total amount of time the user has been registered for.

So working off of your description you’re looking for the first one, but for your needs you actually need the second one. ;)

Hello Andrew,

few days later, the SAME member enrolls as a Level 1 member with Custom_Capability PDF. The membership expires in 14 days.

OK first there’s a flaw with this theory. If the user is already level 1 he can’t pay for level 1 again just for a custom capability. He has to upgrade or downgrade his level in order to be able to change his custom capabilities.

However, if you have the pro version you can modify custom capaiblities only without needing to modify the user’s level in the same process.

I understand that the NEW custom capability (PDF) is added to the existing Custom Capabilities for that user. The user therefore now has 2 capabilities: Video (expiring 21 days from date of subscription, and PDF (expiring 14 days from date of subscription – but before Video).

What happens in 14 days? Does Custom Capability PDF get removed from the list of capabilities and Video stays? Is the entire membership expired (i.e. ALL custom capabilities are removed)? Does the PDF capability remain until the expiry of the Video (21-day) capability?

I’m not sure myself, this is a good question. I’ll have to ask Jason. :)

I’m afraid that’s not how translations work with s2Member. :/

If users want a translation they’ll find the file and use it like described here, or translate it and once again use it like that.

Hello Greg, see my answers below:

1. As a example, I would like to be able to have dropdown bars similar to this for membership offerings and products (and pages/posts as well)…how can I? (i.e. http://www.s2member.com/pro/ then scroll down to see dropdowns).

This was achieved using the theme, not s2Member. So no, s2Member does not offer these features I’m afraid.

2. Where can I get really nice pricing tables (to compare offers I may have to present to prospects so they can compare services)? I would like to incorporate into offerings. Similar or better than this: http://wordpress.org/plugins/pricing-table-ready/screenshots/ (are there features already in s2m that will allow or other solutions)? Something very nice, easy to edit, and simple.

This is not something s2Member offers. You can add s2Member PayPal buttons for the “pay now” buttons and do the rest with plugins or HTML though. :)

3. Where can I find a way to include:

a. A option to show just a excerpt of my offering or post etc and then have the person hover over it and show a pop up of the rest of the content that they could see and click on to keep the pop up in place so they can click freely read and click links inside the pop up etc?

b. A option to show a excerpt of the content and then have a nice “More” or “Read More” tab that looks nice and functions in a modern way etc?

How can I reduce the amount of detail in the subscription on the Registration page so it only show a excerpt and they have to click on it for more info. Right now, it show all the content in the description of each subscription before showing the next (making a huge long scrolling registration option page…am looking for something like mentioned above in #1 on this.

Both of these are handled by your theme. s2Member doesn’t have control over stuff like this, except if the excerpt is the only thing that’s not protected in a post. :)

So to recap, s2Member doesn’t handle any of this. Most/all of this is handled by your theme.

The user and password you provided weren’t for an admin account were they?

One of the solutions for a situation like this is to go to a previous backup of your website/database. That’s what I would do.

Hello Joe,

There’s a pre-sale questions forum for users that are considering buying the pro version. So that they can ask questions that would convince them to upgrade to the pro version.

Only ask questions regarding the pro version though. ;)

I want to point out that this happens because WordPress converts ” to ” and ‘ to ‘.

See, even the text I posted here was converted to the pretty version.

So yeah, this is not really a bug with s2Member, but rather a (useless IMO) feature that WordPress offers.

Excellent Mahdi!

We appreciate this kind of post. :)

Whenever a user needs to have a Persian/Farsi version of s2Member they can just find this post and add it to their website. :)

How do we replace the logo?

You can easily do that under Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Login Registration Design -> Logo Image Configuration.

You can have the logo just be a transparent image, and it’ll be the same color as the background. :)

If I still haven’t answered your question, I’m sorry about that. :(

Could you please clear up what you mean with s2Member button and s2Member form? I mean what are teh differences? Where can you find both?

You do not have access to the pro version, and the pro-forms don’t look like that (if I remember right), so you aren’t talking about s2Member pro-forms are you?

The login page is this one correct?
http://univent.org/inventonomics/wp-login.php

I get a blue background, and I do get a logo, which does not seem to exist at all and that’s why it isn’t shown…

Hello George,

The answer is here:

“The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…”

You gotta contact your server provider for this one so that they can enable the PHP mail() function.

Hello Steve,

Just wondering, do you have any kind of caching plugins in your website? Or a caching something on your server? have you tried clearing those caches and your browser’s cache?

Well you gotta uninstall s2Member before installing it again.

With FTP just delete that folder and then upload/install the plugin again. :)

The nearest you can get AFAIK is something like this:

Hello Fahad,

I don’t understand the problem you’re having. Is the problem the fact that the description can only be 100 chars long?

Also how do you have access to the pro version? Your account doesn’t seem to reflect that you bought s2Member.
