Sorry for the delay. He told me to point you to this KBA:
http://www.s2member.com/kb/idev-s2-commission-tracking/

He also said the following:

Ok if I’m not mistaken S2 updated their later releases to not require that link to be clicked. I’d check with them on that. As for the terminate commission I believe I’ve seen that from other customers in the past and again I believe it was resolved as a bug in later releases of S2. I’d check with them to see what version you should be running to resolve both.

The “Advanced” method discussed in that article does NOT require this link to be clicked. Even w/ the Easy method explained in that KB article; the link in an email (which is VERY important btw); still is not the ONLY way to complete checkout. s2Member makes every effort to return the customer to a registration form immediately after checkout; and the email is simply a backup in case the customer got lost somewhere along the way to completing checkout in the normal/intended flow of things.

In either case, the Advanced method works completely behind-the-scene and does not require any user interaction (other than to complete a sale) in one way or another.

I would also recommend s2Member Pro Forms over simple Buttons; so that registration/checkout occur together at the same time, instead of the multi-step process associated with Button transactions.

Ah so you’ve been doing this stuff through a cPanel or through the command line? You should do this stuff through the command line (aka terminal BTW)…

You would change permissions with sudo chmod 755 wp-config.php wp-content wp-content/cache and you would change user with sudo chown [your unix username] wp-config.php wp-content wp-content/cache.

Again, this is through the command line/terminal.

You would have to edit the wp-login.php file that’s found on the root of your WordPress install. Can’t provide any help with that file because I hate that file. But you can just search for what you want to change and huzzah! :)

Is it possible to auto-upgrade members to level 1
the first time they log in to their members area ?

I’m afraid not. :/

You’ll have to brew a little hack to do this.

Hello Jeffrey,

What do you mean with “S2Members login page”? You mean the one under /wp-login.php?action=register?

If you do mean this one, then you have to change the WordPress file for that. :)

Hello Alex,

Are you using the HTML or the shortcode version of the buttons?

If you’re using the shortcode version, are you using button encryption? You can check under Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Account Details.

Hello Jack,

I’m afraid I’m not sure what could cause for s2Member to “deactive” itself.

Have you made sure s2Member is installed correctly and active as a plugin?

I’m assuming I need to reinstall S2Member Pro.

Also how do you have installed the pro version if you don’t have a paid account? Perhaps this is causing the issue?

Hello Kevin,

I’m afraid this is not possible. If a user can fill a field he can also see it.

There will probably be a plugin somewhere to do this though…

I want to point out that you can stop the user from editing it, but you can’t hide it from his view.

I’m afraid this is not possible.

You can only restrict forums with URI restrictions (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› URI Access Restrictions).

Of course if you like you can implement this feature but you need to be an able/advanced coder. :)

Hello Gabriel,

Well you can hide this forgot your password thing with CSS or you can remove it thoroughly by removing it from the code itself.

Hello Tim,

While I can’t provide help with how to implement this, I can safely say that WordPress was not made to acomodate to this kind of usage.

For this kind of website it’s much easier and effective to not use WordPress, and instead of use Drupal, or better yet, your own system. :)

Ah, I’m afraid that for this you will have to install another (heavy) plugin. Something along the lines of BuddyPress (if not BuddyPress).

Thanks Daniel! We really appreciate these contributions. :)

FYI, English has no accents. ;) (You said “vía” instead of “via”. I’m Spanish as well BTW. :D)

Hello Antoinette,

I checked your website using the latest version of Chrome (as of Jun 13, 2013) and I’m not having the issues you’re having in your website…

Hello Demian,

To disable the display name you will have to modify WordPress itself I’m afraid. Although it’s not necessary.

If the user wishes, using this value, he can appear as his username, his name, a pretty version of his username, etc. So I wouldn’t hide this value in any case. :)

Hmm… don’t know what else it could be… OH! Try chown, you used chmod to give it the right permissions, now make sure it’s owned by the right user. ;)

If that doesn’t work…

Could you try making another new installation of WordPress (in the same server) and see if it works there?

If it doesn’t, could you try with another server? If it works there then it’s an issue with your server.

If none of this works then I am completely out of ideas. :/

Hello Jordan,

It is in the works. :)

A beta version of the next generation of s2Member should be available later this year, the full release will include this. :)

Hello Marc,

There’s subscriber modification buttons (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Buttons -› Subscr. Modification Buttons) and subscription cancellation buttons (Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Buttons -› Subscr. Cancellation Buttons), as well as pro-forms of course. :)

You can use the first to upgrade or downgrade level(s). The latter to, of course, completely cancel a subscription. :)

Hello s2.
Much of the documentation on the site is quite extensive and greatly appreciated. I would like to piggyback on question 7 from Gillian as to whether their is standard reporting and what the reports look like. If my organization has 7 different member levels, at the end of the month would a be able to see a summary of member numbers in each category? Could I compare it to the month previous and determine if my organization grew its membership? The year prior to get a year over year snapshot? Or will I need to export a csv file and use another program to analyze the data.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Steven, yeah it’s not possible as-is with s2Member. You would have to do some kind of script of your own to be able to track this.

Hello Mariola,

This is possible using content dripping.

Check under Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / Scripting -› Content Dripping.

Hope this helps. :)
