Hello Pete,

Have you tried using a shortcode? Cause the names don’t really apply when using the HTML version. Also, sorry for the delay.

Hello there,

Well, have you checked the options under Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› Alternative View Protection?

Also, have you checked s2Member conditionals? Here’s an article about them:
Knowledge Base » s2Member® Conditionals

Hope this helps. :)

:(

Well you can always hire a freelancer to do this for you, in case you don’t find another membership software that meets your needs. Once again, you can try jobs.wordpress.net if you like. ;)

Hmm…

That’s strange, I haven’t encountered this behavior, is this to pay a new membership or to renew their existing membership?

Well there’s one way to do this, but you would need the pro version.

You would create a page, let’s name this page “index page”, in this index page, you would put links to the pages with your PayPal pro-forms, you would have one page per PayPal pro-form (since otherwise there are errors).

Each of those pages would have their own PayPal pro-form with the price of the membership etc. Now, these pro-forms would contain the success attribute in their shortcode (which you can read about under Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms -› Shortcode Attributes (Explained) at the bottom) which would point to the membership options page.

Hope this helps. :)

Hello Christine,

Glad you found the problem!

Regarding the success attribute, I’m pretty sure this is not possible, unless you search through the source code and find it. :/

Hello John,

Not sure I can provide a correct answer for all of the questions, but I will do what I can. :)

1. TWO PAYMENT “GATEWAYS” – In addition to PayPal Standard, I need to be able to accept Checks as payment. I do understand that some might find this silly. But this is a requirement of the client and it’s not worth arguing any more.

s2Member supports PayPal, Authorize.net, Google Checkout and ClickBank as payment gateways.

2. FOUR MEMBERSHIP “Levels” – I say “Levels” because there is NO difference in any level except for the price and the name. Absolutely nothing on the site is protected from any levels. This site is for a trade group. It is not a site that monetizes content. The difference in Membership levels is only a difference in the Members professional level. For instance, Level 1 is Practicing Lawyers ($50). While Level 4 is Students and Judges (Free).

If you want members to get incremental access (level 2 gets everything that level 1 and level 0 gets) then levels would work for you, if you want different content for each “level”, then you would use ccaps, for which you can find more info in this video: Video » s2Member (Custom Capabilities)

3. TWO REMINDER EMAILS – Need an email to go out 30 days prior to Membership EOT reminding the Member about expiration. THEN, if the Member has not renewed, we need another email to go out at Expiration. NOTE: We do NOT want any Automatic recurring Payments. The client does not want Members to have their PayPal accounts automatically charged at renewal. It MUST be initiated by the Member.

This isn’t currently possible with s2Member, you could hire a service like MailChimp and set it up so that it sends the email reminder after a certain amount of time (if the membership doesn’t have variable membership times).

4. SPECIAL EOT FOR EXISTING MEMBERS – This is not a new organization. So, we have Current members of the Organization whose memberships go through Jan 1, 2013. So, they’d need special accommodation somehow to make sure they get the reminder email and expiry email.

I’m afraid for this you would have to make a script which goes through the existing users and checks if they were created before a certain day, if yes then change their EOT. Any competent freelancer could do this for you, you can check at websites like jobs.wordpress.net for this.

5. AUTO LOGGED IN UPON PURCHASE – We want to collect some info immediately upon registration. So, we don’t want to send users to their email then back to the site. Which means we want the user to be redirected to their Profile page as soon as transaction is complete.

I believe there was a hack for this already… I did a quick search but wasn’t able to find it, although I’m pretty sure there already is a hack for this.

Hope this helps. :)

1) What does “control the whole checkout process” and “they will see what I intended them to see” mean?

I get that PayPal Pro lets site owners keep their own branding. There’s no side trip to PayPal.com and return to the site. It’s more elegant.

That’s basically it, you can control the checkout process in a more elegant way, your customers will pay and create their account at the same time, and it will retain the look of your website.

Tell me what S2 Pro Forms gives me when I’m not using PayPal Pro. Tools to make a really pretty page? The ability to make multi-page custom checkout flow?

What functionality can I expect from S2 Pro Forms without PayPal Pro?

If you don’t have PayPal pro, then I believe you will still be able to use pro-forms, but won’t be able to accept various credit cards, only PayPal payments, but you still have the pro-form look and idea.

2) I saw that I can still use regular PayPal buttons on my site. Can I use them inside an S2 Pro Form signups? Of course it won’t have that nice seamless payment processing, but oh well. Can I mix the two?

You can use both pro-forms and normal buttons (even buttons created over at PayPal), you can combine them anyway you want, but you can’t have one inside the other (just to clarify that).

Hope this helps. :)

Hello Claudine,

You can achieve this with only one login welcome page, you would just use s2Member conditionals, which allow you to separate the content depending on the user’s access, check this article for more info:
Knowledge Base » s2Member® Conditionals

Hope this helps. :)

Where do I put extra codes for full name, email, etc.? How can I edit this and add our support email?

You can change this email under Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Signup Confirmation Email if I’m not mistaken.

So when I signed up I did not not get the s2Member confirmation to create my username and password?

So you want it so that this confirmation email of sorts isn’t even sent?

Hope this helps. :)

Hello Janet,

You got everything right if I’m not mistaken.

What parts of the cool custom checkout pages depend on using PayPal Pro? What will still work with standard PayPal?

Check this article for that: Knowledge Base » PayPal® Services / A Quick Comparison
And also this FAQ question: Pre Sale FAQs » To use s2Member® Pro Forms, will I have to use PayPal® Pro?

EDIT:
I updated the pro-form knowledge base article so that it’s clearer on what a pro-form is.

Hope this helps. :)

Hello Robert,

You can achieve this blocking the content with URI restrictions, simply use a “/” without the quotes. You can find URI restrictions under Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› URI Access Restrictions.

Also, you might be interested in s2Member conditionals, here’s an article about them: Knowledge Base » s2Member® Conditionals

Hope this helps. :)

Hello Christine,

Could you please try doing a compatibility test? Just change the theme back to the default one (TwentyEleven), and see if that fixes the problem.

And for the plugins, simply disable all of them except s2Member, and if the problem disappears, then enable them one-by-one until the problem returns, and there you will have your culprit.

Hope this helps. :)

1.) %%registration_url%% what actual url needs to be here for them to successfully establish a username? do they get a popup that looks like the s2member login?

I don’t understand the question fully, you mean what they get when they click that URL? If so, then I’m not sure, since I haven’t gone through the registration process myself.

2.) with the replacement codes available like name etc… where does the code get placed within the email confirmation script?

This I’m sure I don’t understand, lol. Could you please be a little more descriptive of what you mean? Thanks. :)

One other question Eduan, We have subscribers trying to sign up but they are not getting the follow up email from s2member for their user name. I made sure that all the CCBill User Management switches are turned off with CCBill Support. Can you tell me how to review all my s2member signup confirmation email. This is imperative to our success obviously. Please contact me right away. Thank you Eduan
Brian

And I really can’t offer any advice at all with CCBill, it’s not a payment gateway I’ve used, or plan to use. :/

Hello Deepa,

So, if I understood correctly, you need users to be redirected to the membership options page after they register successfully correct?

Hello Chris,

Yes that is supposed to be there, s2Member adds it in order to avoid compatibility issues with file downloads and GZIP.

Hope this helps. :)

Hmmm…I’m obviously new and a bit inexperienced at this…”clean install” doesn’t make much sense to me…

Sorry for not being clear, when we say clean install we mean a newly installed WordPress, only WordPress and s2Member, that way we can rule out if it’s a plugin or the theme causing the problem.

I could provide the URL for the page where the problem exists: http://example.com/members/ – not sure why I would want to “hide” what I’m up to…are there that many hacks out there and am I susceptible to them?

Oh no, there’s no real danger, it’s just that some people prefer to not show their URL, for whatever reason, that’s up the person.

I created a really nice screenshot to attach here, yet I am having difficulty discovering how to paste it on this forum…ugh!

I know exactly what you mean! You will have to upload it to an external place, currently this forum system doesn’t allow uploads, so you’ll have to upload it to your server or something and put an image using the resulting link.

Hello MP,

No, if it’s subsites or something along those lines then there’s no problem in having different WordPress installations.

Hope this helps. :)

Hello Randy,

If the button you generated was generated over at paypal.com, then follow the instructions in this topic in order for it to work with s2Member correctly:
Knowledge Base » Using PayPal created buttons

Hope this helps. :)

Hello Chris,

Well seeing how you can only put 1 pro-form per page, the best way to go on about this would be to have a page where users will choose what level they wish to buy, you can put your content that will sell that, and then you can redirect them to a page for the registration of the different levels. The only problem is, the fields would still remain available regardless of the level they choose.

If you really need this, then here’s something I can think of, use the same flow as the above, but require the fields depending on the level they are for, so if a field is for a user at level 1 then it will be protected at that level, I suggest you use ccaps for this though.

Then when the user registers, in the login welcome page put a link for them to modify their profile, at which moment they would finish filling out those fields.

If this flow doesn’t work for you, then the next thing you can try is coding this in yourself or hiring a freelancer to do this for you at websites like jobs.wordpress.net or something of the like.

Hope this helps. :)
