I would not be able to make sense of what shows in the log. Do you want to look at it and see if something stands out?

I have a similar “problem” with my campus: most content is behind membership wall, so if someone is searching for something that I HAVE, they wont find it. I found a way around it and am getting someone to help me set it up. This might or might not be suitable for you.

– i am creating various pages (in my case, it will be one page per tutorial) that are totally hidden from navigation
– those pages are keyword rich, for SEO purpose but also a “selling pitch” for my product
– those pages will be linked together and with related tutorials “hidden pages”, but all will direct viewers to the real sale pitch page

This setup allows me to take advantage of SEO, and search engine ranking without giving the actual content away (i am just trying to convice you that i HAVE the content and that you WANT it!)

Here is one example of such pages: Postage Stamp

Like i said, it might not be the answer for your particular site though, but maybe something you can tweak.

I am not 100% sure of this, simply because i never had the need to use it, but s2Member Pro has pro-forms that allow you to create and use coupons. Since you create your own coupon, i think that you can give them prefixes to help you track where they got the coupon.

Hope it helps, and maybe a more advanced support person can be more specific.

Ok i figured it out, and you were right. Now, just to figure out how i put it where it is! (next challenge!)

Hum, that might work but i doubt it is what i used. Strangely, i cannot even figure out where the code i used IS right now! Weird.

All the conditionals, and the page protection are made using s2M only. The theme is Headway Theme.

David, just register to the Campus as a free member and i will be able to change your permission at that point.

Thanks David, but you didn’t see the site as a “registered student”, or someone who “bought something”. Let me know if you want to see that other side.

I am not a salesperson but if you want to come and see my site, i can grant you a temporary access so you can see what members/non members can see, if that is what you want.

Is that what you are looking for?

It might be too obvious, but did you make that test with your own account? The admin account? Because the admin might still have access despite the EOT? Can you try with someone else’s account?

You might want to use conditionals so that if they are logged in and have paid, the button will not show.
I have something like that for the Webinars on my Campus site: if you have purchased the package, you see it, otherwise, you see the sale pitch. But you can put whatever you want if they are logged in and have paid, and if they have not.

Maybe you can have that paypal button on the Login Welcome Page so that as soon as they register and log in, they would have access to that button?

Maybe something to check is whether the “purchase” is made by an existing member. I found that it works fine for a NEW member, but for existing members, the ccaps do not get set automatically. I usually have to keep a close eye on registrations and update manually if a customer was already a member (paid or not).

Thanks Raam. It seems to work. Good to know that option is available.

Ryan, i could have done that, but i wanted everything to be entered automatically by s2M, instead of adding the ccaps, Paypal ID, and so on.

It was not a specific post/page, but a ccaps.

How do you suggest i manage this particular customer’s situation?

Is this a solution for the next instance or will it allow me to get another link that works for this particular customer?

One way around this is to integrate the s2Member subscription with a mailing list. As an example, i am using a kind of workaround like that (not the best yet, but it works for now). I get someone to register for a course called “basic”, and the member is added to my MailChimp mailing list. I added a merged tag with the registration for that particular course and enter the date of the registration (i do it manually now, but i might get it automatic with some coding later on). Then, i set up an autoresponder for sending an email 3 days after registration, 7 days after, 14 days after and so on. In my case, i have all the content (the video lessons) on the site and accessible as soon as the member is registered, but you can have the content on different pages, and linked in the email so the new member is not able to find the content until it is time.

It might not the most straightforward method, but it works if you have a small enough membership to do it manually, or do the coding as mentioned in another thread here about Merged Tags in MailChimp.

And this can be done with more than one product since it will be using a different merged tag and a different set of autoresponders.

Hope it helps.

I have used different email providers and it worked in the OLD forum, but never did since the switch to here.

I have the same “problem”. I never get the notifications. I changed email and it still does not reach me.

Heh, there’s a good chance. There will be a big improvement for this, but I’m not sure if it’ll include payment times, so you may still need to use a hack.
Anyway, this hack is quite simple, so it won’t take you too long to implement now, or update later. ;)

Great to know. I might just get to learn more coding, even if just for the “fun” of it! :)
Thanks Andrew for the code!

Yes, you can adapt the hack to store other values, like registration dates.

Any info whether it is included in the next release before i get into coding?

Only somewhat related to this but i like what i see. I wonder if this kind of coding could be used to automatically fill merge tags in MC with the date of registration/purchase of a certain product (based on ccaps)? If so (and if it is not already included in the next major release) i might look into that.

Jordon, custom capabilities might look scary but they are not. I am not a tech person. I even struggle with simple html, yet, i managed to get a lot of custom capabilities coded into my site. Once you get the list of shortcode and you know what the basic code is for the simple conditionals, you will be going through it smoothly.

If you can think logically of the reasoning, you can code it, i promise:

if user has access to “category1” –> here is the content for category1
if user has access to “category2” –> here is the content for category2
and so on.
So whoever has access to category1 will not see what is in category 2, or 3 or 4 or 10 for that matter (yes, with the custom capabilities, you can have unlimited “categories”). Isn’t that neat?
