It does, Thank you Christian.

As I explained in step 1 and 3 of my previous reply you can create a page with a paypal button on it.
Create an empty page first, then go to s2member->PayPal Buttons and create the button you need.

In the shortcode you can put the Success=”” attribute where you put the redirection URL AFTER the payment at Paypal is succesful. Put that shortcode on the page you just created.

What I understand now is that this URL should contain a parameter being the tracking code for your affiliates.
Am I correct about that assumption?

I think this is interesting for more people (at least I see some useage for that in my situation!) so maybe the support reps (Christian, Raam and Jason) could elaborate on that. FYI, I don’t see yet how a variable parameter, being your tracking code. can be added to this URL, hence my request to support.

As to the redirect to the page AFTER the profile page that works exactly the same, You create the profile page using s2member, in the shortcode you add the success=”” again where the URL is then your welcome page.

Sorry for a late reaction. I’ve been quite busy.
Here is the situation as I understand it (correct me if I am wrong).
If I do NOT give the user the opportunity to fill in his/her own password then (s)he will receive an email with a system generated password and a link to the profile page where the password can be changed.

I would like to give my users the chance to immediately create their own password and still send out a confirmation email with additional information.
is that possible?

Hi Nick,

I just implemented the same structure. Here is what I did.

  1. First, go to 2member->PayPal Buttons.
Select the level you want there and fill in the details for the payment.
Copy past the generated code on a new page. Save that Page!
  2. Then, you go to s2member->PayPal pro Forms.
Select the level according to the payment button you created in the previous step.
Fill in the details for the subscription page.
Copy paste the generated code on a new page.
You might want to consider to remove the custom attribute from the generated code.
Safe that page and remember the name
  3. Go back to the first page.
On that page you now add the success=”” attribute. Fill in the URL of the page you want the users to fill in their data. Mind you, DO THAT IN THE HTML EDITOR.
I found that if you type in that url in the visual editor WordPress plays a trick with you that you do not want. (see my Q in the “is this correct?” thread on this site.
  4. Maybe you want the user to go to a new page AFTER registration, I did that.
For that purpose use the success=”” attribute in the second page as well so they will redirected to a new page, that you create, after a successful registration (welcome page, please log in, other things worth knowing etc)
  5. Hope this helps.

I will test that later on Raam. Tx for the tip

It solved the problem Christian. I contacted the maker of Shortcode Ultimate to let him know that his code was interfering with the code from s2member. FYI, I completely removed that plugin.

Duuuhhh, OMG, I feel stupid… Tx Christian for pointing that one out!

I use Electric Studio Download Counter for that. They also have a widget you can use to show the top downloads

if you have a paypal account you can create a domate button there as well. Once you have that button created you can copy/paste the code that PayPal gives you to any page/post on your site.

To create a button on the PayPal site log in to your account go to profile->options->Sales preferences->PayPal buttons. Select New button from the screen you get then you select donate button.
Just follow the steps. It is quite straightforward.

It could be that the terminology on the paypal site is somewhat different from what I told you here. I had to translate from Dutch into English because PayPal presents itself in Dutch to me (Since I am living in the Netherlands).

OK, thanks Raam. I guess I should not be working so late anymore. I kinda lost it for a moment. My apologise.

HOLY MOLY PHILLY! What are you, clear voyant?? did you sit in lotus, sing aum for a few hours and saw what was wrong? How in the world did you know I had shortcode ultimate?
I disabled it and now it works again! MAN, if we ever meet all beers (or whatever you like to drink) are on me! Thanks a gazzilion!!

it’s a workaround. It works, but quite a hassle.

I hope that in this next update the PayPal buttons are working as expected again, the last version (May 17) killed these buttons, see my message about this. (I am a bit worried because I did not receive any reaction to that!)

Ah, sometimes things are so simple you overlook them. Thanks Raam.

OK Cassel, I will take your advice and see what happens. Thanks for these ideas.

Hi Peter,

In a way I can agree with you that the docs could use a better organization. FYI, only a while ago I started using the pro version as well and indeed not all is very clear from the start. Some working examples could be of good help. a step by step list to do things, given a certain scenario would work well also.

As to the gateways for payments you can use others as well, like autorize.net, ccBill and alipay.
I need to mention that for Authorize.net you MUST have a bankaccount in the USA, I found that out after making a call to that company. Thyat leaves a big part of the world out of course (I live in the Netherlands).
For the rest I don’t know, I did not bother to contact them.

Fair enough… So what would be a solution then?

Posted: Friday May 25th, 2012 at 9:33 am #14591

Hmm, maybe strange, maybe not.
I installed the SEO ultimate plugin and I do give the Meta Description there.
One thing I know about the search engines is that relevance is VERY important to them.
What I also know is that in the SERPs only the Meta Description is shown.
My assumption is that they will look at the subject of the site. Then the title of the page and meta description and then to the content of the site. If there is a certain consistency that would mean that the ranking is influenced in a positive way.
If the protected content IS indeed invisible to the search engines then they can never determine the relevance.
So, if such is the case then my question is, how do you people deal with that.

Thanks Philly, that is definetely helpful. Will take a closer look later today. (sigh, tax forms first now)

using filezilla, do you see the s2member-pro folder in the wp-content/plugins folder?
If so, you might need to logout of the admin dashboard and log in again.
Possible you see the red rectangle at the top of the plugins screen saying you need to upgrade again. (happened to me, minutes ago.)
After that you should see the extra options from the pro version (like the paypal pro forms and other integrations)

HTH

hey Goalzila,

reading your message you say: “CUSTOMERS WILL BUY MY PRODUCT FROM MY SALES PAGE AND WILL BE REDIRECTED TO REGISTER FOR AN ACCOUNT”

So if I understand right you say that they should BUY your product. If that is the case then where do they pay?
If you don’t want PayPal there are other option like: Authorize.net (only if you have a bankaccount in the US), and others. Or do you plan to start your own payment service?

Just a word of advice (nothing to do with your request). set your capslock off, all uppercase is considered shouting, shouting is considered rude.

Philly, if you were a woman I would kiss you smack on the lips (bad luck for you I guess ;-) ). Thanks a gazzilion man! THIS is what I was looking for. Indeed, i had the idea already to get a SSL certificate as soon as the money comes in. Believe it or not but I really do not have the money for that now.

** a few hours later **
so far so good, I see that this works if one has a PayPal account. Is this also working when somebody does NOT have a PayPal account but a CreditCard?

Posted: Tuesday May 15th, 2012 at 2:12 pm #13538

OK, you made your point Philly,

Next step then is that I indeed use the SSL from PayPal. How does that work with the IPN and PDT?
You seem to be very experienced so instead of blazing about my direct language tell me more about the steps to take, I don’t find any docs on that.

And FWIW, I never said anything about the support, I was just bringing up an idea for a step-by-step checklist…
And no, there is no such thing.

Posted: Tuesday May 15th, 2012 at 11:44 am #13528

First of all I wish there was a step-by-step to-do list, all features are scattered now over the different screens and options. If only such a list was available then there would be much less to ask.
Some good documentation wouldd be REALLY helpful. >sigh<
OK, what I have is two pages.
On page 1 the potential user selects a subscription, either monthly ($4.50) or per year ($45).
They are then send to the subscrition form where they add their data, password and captcha, on the bottom row they see the selections (I have ALL CC open).
They then check out with PayPal and I have set all settings there in advance. I filled the account details, IPN, PDT and the like.

The only way the money is accepted is when they send money through their own PayPal account, all other options give errors on the users side. I will contact one of them tonight (living iin Italy) to ask if they can reproduce the error so I can give more specific data. For now I had to open the site so everybody can read the stuff I have there. THAT is a situation I want to end asap, because that is an expensive situation. Mind you, there are 100K++++ people who like what I do and are willing to pay me for that. A simple calculation shows how much money I am missing right now. can you imagine I am not really pleased at the moment?
I come back with more specific data as soon as I have it.

missed opportunity it seems
