Hello Chris.

I see in your PayPal integration that you entered the PayFlow API credentials, but from the other thread and though you had the version that uses PayPal Pro’s API. Could you verify if you have PayPal Pro (PayFlow Edition)?

If so, would it be okay with you if I enable logging, create a test page with a pro-form for 1 cent and do a test purchase to see what the problem may be?

Hi Mark.

Have you watched this video? Video » s2Member (Login Welcome Page Conflicts?)

You can also try these actions: Knowledge Base » Common Troubleshooting Tips

I hope that helps. :)

You can use the robots.txt file to prevent that file from being indexed, if I’m not mistaken.

Now, if you try loading the s2member-o.php file, do you get the 404? If so, verify that the file is actually there. If it isn’t, please upload it, if it is then maybe a security plugin in your WP is preventing access to it?

but if I create a new blog (through signup) it has an instance of S2Member running there as well.

If you activated s2Member network-wide, it’ll be active in the child blogs. But even if it’s not active, it’ll be listed as a plugin available to the child blogs because that’s what WP does.

I’m pretty sure I remember seeing a plugin that lets you hide what plugins are available to the child blogs.

It has all the metadata (payment and eot etc.) attached at mail level

I’m not sure I understand. You mean that the child blog’s instance of s2Member, has the settings values that you entered in the main blog’s s2Member?

I don’t understand the question. The s2Member profile fields are in the user’s profile page. What do you mean by User’s Personal Details? Could you explain it a bit more, pointing me to the right place, and showing me a screenshot if possible? Thanks!

I tried registering an account and seemed to have some trouble.

Did you customize the pro-form template in any way? If so, try the default template to see if the problem goes away.

If not, please try these: Knowledge Base » Common Troubleshooting Tips

I’d start with the theme and plugin conflict tests.

I hope that helps.

I had not seen that error mentioned before…

Does it happen when you load the page where the PayPal button is or after clicking the button?

What code are you using for the button?

Could you show me a screenshot or give me a link to the page?

However, since only 50% of my emails are ever sent, I typically have to do it manually, which means affiiate sales are not tracked.

Are you having trouble with your email delivery? Maybe these tips can help: Knowledge Base » Troubleshooting Email Delivery Problems

In s2member, I have the IDEV code under payment notification and NOT under registration notification…

That seems fine if you’re paying the affiliate for every payment and not just the signup. What is the issue with that? I’m not sure I understand the problem.

Thanks for the update, James. I’m glad you found the solution. :)

You don’t have to use the s2Member profile fields, you can use the BuddyPress ones if you prefer them. They won’t be in the pro-forms, though. BuddyPress’ profile fields have not been integrated into s2Member.

Yeah, I see what you mean, it is tricky.

Another s2 user had her developer create a couple of hacks for her to deal with ccaps based on times:
http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/ccap-drip-timer-drip-multiple-courses/
http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/ccap-clock-timer-perfect-for-magazines/

I know they aren’t exactly what you need here, but you could contact her developer to get a quote for the customization you want.

I hope that helps. :)

In the shortcode for the button/form you’re charging them with, you need to define a free 30 day trial using ta, tt and tp. Example: [hilite mono]ta="0" tp="1" tt="M"[/hilite].

See: [hilite path]WP Admin -> s2Member -> [Gateway] Buttons/Forms -> Shortcode Attributes[/hilite]

I hope that helps. :)

Well, s2Member levels are WP roles, and those are the roles s2Member gives the user when he purchases a level.

If you want users to be able to do other things, I’ve seen site owners edit the s2Member level roles to give them other capabilities. If you do that, keep this in mind: Knowledge Base » Locking s2Member Roles/Capabilities

Another option may be selling custom capabilities instead of levels, these will be capabilities added to the user, independent of his role. Video » s2Member (Custom Capabilities)

I hope that helps. :)

You’d use the s2 or the BP profile fields, but not a mix of both. For the s2 ones to show you need to enable the integration with BP here: [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Registration/Profile Fields -> BuddyPress[/hilite]

Hi Josh.

The thing is that trials are only possible with subscriptions, and subscriptions are ongoing, I don’t see how you can charge only 1 month with it.

I’ll ask Jason about it, in case he knows a way to do it.

James, I’m not sure I understand the question. Could you explain it a bit more?

Are you asking why the person receives a subscription confirmation email from MailChimp?

Okay.

Could you show me your PayPal buttons? The code you’re using for them and the page they’re in, please.

Thanks!

You’re right, it’s funny that they’d stop working like that.

Did you verify that your PayPal credentials in the integration are all correct? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options[/hilite]

Did you enable logging for your tests and what errors do the logs mention? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Log Files[/hilite]

Do you have any hacks in your theme’s functions.php or WordPress’ must-use plugins? Did you remove these when testing conflicts?

Did you also do the clean WP installation with just s2Member as part of the troubleshooting?

Excellent! Thanks for the update. :)

Here’s what Jason said:

Changing your primary email address won’t affect s2Member® as long as you update your Dashboard under s2Member® -› PayPal Options -› Account Details to reflect the new email address. Changing this does not impact s2Member’s IPN communication with PayPal in any way. I’m not aware of any issues with this, as long as the underlying PayPal account remains the same, and it’s just the merchant’s email address that is changing; there is no problem :-)

Since I wasn’t aware that PayPal lets you change the email address without changing the PayPal account, I asked him to confirm what would happen if the PP account were changed and he said:

Changing PP accounts will completely destroy the connection. That goes for PP Standard and for PP Pro too. The old transactions and/or subscriptions cannot be accessed through API calls or through IPN communication because s2Member® will be configured to operate with a completely new account once that changes.

If I were doing this (I would try not to, but if I were), I would setup manual EOT Times for all existing members (if they are being charged on a recurring basis, that is); and then move forward under the new integration (e.g. with the new PP account).

I hope that helps!

It would have to load after s2Member or the s2 functions/shortcodes would not be defined before. If you’re using a hook, [hilite mono]wp_loaded[/hilite] may be a good one to use. http://adambrown.info/p/wp_hooks/hook/wp_loaded

Posted: Thursday Aug 29th, 2013 at 11:24 pm #58873

I see what you mean. Well, the subscriptions of your customers will be tied to the PayPal account, so if you change the PayPal account s2Member integrates with, the subscription synch will be lost if I’m not mistaken. I’ll confirm with Jason what issues he can forsee and let you know what he says as soon as I hear back from him.

Excellent! I’m glad that did it. Thank you for the update. :)

If it’s not too much to ask for, would you take a moment to rate s2Member and leave a comment over at wordpress.org? http://www.s2member.com/r/wp-rate/

A Facebook “like” would be great too! https://www.facebook.com/s2Member

Thanks in advance! :)

Thank you very much! That’s so nice of you. :)

It’s not much, but as a thank you, I gave you the “Supporter” badge and a discount in case you upgrade in the future. Thanks!
