Okay, so it’s the weekend and no one has responded. But I have made some progress, but still need direction. So, I am leaning towards upgrading all members by one level (and concurrently raising the levels for the level-restricted pages as well. So, that way, level 1 can now be available for recurring payments with custom capabilities Question 1: Is there a fatal flaw here, i.e., upgrading all members by 1 level (along with raising all page levels by one). Will that allow current recurring payments for those memberships to go uninterrupted, and without any intervention on the part of members — and also are there any additional steps for me to make this work. Question 2: I don’t want level 2 or higher level users to see level 1 with custom capabilities content. Given that none of the higher levels (than one) have custom capabilities, will that work by default. i.e., even though membership access is incremental, would level 2 still not have access to the level 1 content, since none of them have custom capabilities. Question 3: If not for Q2, then how can I restrict level 2 from seeing level 1 content. I remeber someone back someone mention a plugin on wordpress roles and capabilities. Would I be using that? Question 4: Are there any additional steps needed here, other than putting capabilities into the specific pages that have that content, and generating proforms and buttons to match that? Question 5: All of this would be even smoother, if s2 allowed multiple subscriptions per user. I understand that’s in the works, but is there a target date for that? |

An update. I just made some changes so as to not put multiple authorize.net pro-forms on the same page. That has brought the TTFB to now 1.5-2 sec which is still high, but tolerable. Any ideas on best practices to reduce that even further? It seems most of that is from loading the CSS for the pro-forms. Thanks, Ganaxi |

yes, eduan. Thanks for the response. Any idea on how to implement this, because it doesn’t work as is – possibly, my guess, because of the parentheses. |

Thanks, Christian. If it is conditionals, I can do it. However, I am not yet conversant with using functions, hooks and filters. And my understanding would be that a significant portion of your customer-base would be in the same boat. |

Hi, Cristian, Thanks for your response. This looks outside my skill level right now, but I will deal with it when I can. However, if there is a simpler way (for a non-programmer) to functionally achieve the same outcome (i.e., force users that used Social Login to agree to Terms & Privacy Policy), please let me know. Let me add. I did something with php code so that right now they get redirected to the membership options page, when they try to access protected content. The code, based on the s2member user community was, like, as under… You have requested access to content that requires Free Registration as a Guest. Please login using the sliding panel to the right, or click here to register as a guest.I am now trying to improve the experience by having the visitors (non-members and non-registered) instead redirected to a landing page, based on what they were trying to access. However, when I paste something like the above into a proposed landing page for that level, it still returns the membership options page, minus the message above. Thanks, Ganaxi |

Hi, Bruce, Thanks for the response. That is right. I did give them a cancel button, that they used to cancel. Its just that at my end, I don’t see any change – i.e., they still show up as being a ‘Basic Member’. I expected that they would be demoted to free subscriber, right away. Will that change be shown once their trial period expires, then? Ganaxi |

Hi Bruce: Thanks for the reply. Are there any plans to include this option in the base functionality, i.e., so that you can pick a EOT date or write-it-in from the drop-down menu for Specific Post/Page purchase where it says one day, one week, two weeks, etc. Thanks, Manish |

Hi Cristian: I did figure out the problem. It is the SSL-enablement of the pages by my host that is causing the problem. Basically, I added the html to the page piece-meal, and the problem never occurred even with all the html being identical as the other page that had the problem. So, then I changed the permalink, and that brought the error back. My host SSL-enables pages by rules on paths, and when I deviate from that path, the Card Start Date disappears, meaning that it is the SSL-enablement that is causing the conflict. I have a request into my host to determine what I can do here, but if you have any suggestions, please let me know. By the way, will removing all rules by my host, and SSL-enabling the page with the s2member_force_ssl=yes custom field solve the problem? Thanks, Ganaxi |

Hi, Cristian: The site was down briefly, coinciding with when you may have checked. I would appreciate if you could check the two pages again, as the error (Card Start Date needed) appears for only the membership purchase pages, and not for specific page/post purchase. Reg. your question, I deactivated the theme first (reverting to 2010 and then 2011 wp theme), then one by one I deactivated all plugins, except s2, and the issue was still there with the membership purchase pages (I had not still discovered then that it worked fine for specific page/post purchase). That would seem to rule out, it seems, plugin conflicts. Also, the fact that the error (Card Start Date needed) does not appear on specific page/post purchase is very interesting. FYI, the shortcode for specific page/post that works is And the shortcode for Membership purchase pages that shows the error is One interesting thing, I just found, if it means anything to you, for the code that works (i.e., Card Start Date reqd. does not appear), the Authorize.Net form loads by default only upto the Billing Method selection line (where the V, MC, etc. images are), and only when you click one of the cards, does the rest of the form (with the Card Start Date) load up. With the other one, where the error appears (i.e., Card Start Date field), the entire form loads up by default. Thanks, Ganaxi |

Hi Cristian, I thought it was the accept=”paypal” that did that, from the link that Bruce indicated above. However, I tried both, separately and together, and all three ways tried still allow payment via CC using paypal. Also, I am right now offering all three methods of payment, Authorize, Google and PayPal, but all on the same page — as in the example from the link below. Let me know if there is a mistake there. Also, you can check the PayPal button there, it includes both shortcode attributes mentioned above. Thanks, Ganaxi |

Hi, I don’t know any javascript. However, researching on the Internet, it seems that the following command is needed to be added to trigger a pop-up confirmation, which would work for me. However, I don’t know where I would add this, in the shortcode Are you able to help here? Thanks, Ganaxi |

Hi Bruce, I tried the following modification to the PayPal shortcode. It did not work, as PayPal loaded an error page, saying to go back to the originating website. [s2Member-PayPal-Button level="1" ccaps="" desc="xxxyyyzzz" ps="paypalxyz" accept="paypal" lc="" cc="USD" dg="0" ns="1" custom="www.xyz.com" ta="0" tp="0" tt="D" ra="20" rp="3" rt="M" rr="1" rrt="" rra="1" image="default" output="button" /][/raw] What am I missing here? Thanks, Ganaxi |

Hi Raam, Thanks for your detailed responses to the above questions. One clarification though, FYI, it is my understanding that Payflow Link payments do not require a re-direct to PayPal website (like in PayPal Std), rather the PayPal form is embedded into your website, that you can customize (to a limited degree). A follow-up question: does s2 support Paypal for Digital Goods, Thanks, Ganaxi |
