Never mind, i found one solution: in my dashboard, under the specific page, i have the SEO box where i can redirect (in case of affiliate link for example), so i just put the NEW url there and it does redirect automatically. I am not sure if it is only my theme or if it is standard, but that solves my problem.

That thread refers to something i asked a while ago and i am still using it effectively. It is pretty easy once it is set up, at least for the Thank you email.

Not exactly. The example i gave it when i had a redicrection with conditionals (if they have a specific ccap, they would be redirected or not), but now i have some old pages with some content that WAS accessible only with logging in. Now, i want that content to be accessible with some ccaps instead. All the inside links in the site are now pointing to the NEW url but some places (old emails, forum posts, etc) might still have the OLD one so how do i just redirect anyone trying to access the OLD pages to be sent to the NEW ones.

So, since i am terrible with html and such, i dont know the syntax to redirect as it is obviously not exactly like the other redirect i am using.

I am using IE8 for the videos to display like this.

Not sure if it is showing or not.
In FF, it is fine.

You can simply use the open registration or level 0. That way the content is only visible to logged in members, and you dont have to worry about the other levels. The levels 1 and up are the paid one, so you would not have to worry about them. Check under General Option > Open Registration and set it to YES.

I do not know whether s2Member will protect after the “Read more…” because i never used it (i am just a user), however, to cut off the text in the post, you can just place your cursor where you want to stop the text and click the icon for Insert-More-Tag(Alt-Shift-T).

Someone will surely come and let you know if you can protect the rest of the text. I am pretty sure it can, but never uses it.

Good luck.

While we are talking about forum behavior, i noticed that several posts have a video embedded, but it only displays as a half an inch wide, but full height. I wonder why i see it like that. It does not bother me as i know where to find them, but being embedded, some users might want to view directly and i am wondering if they see the same thing i see. (at 1/2 an inch wide, it is impossible to see!)

Yes, you can do that. You can use the ccap (custom capabilities), so you can decide that membershipA will get access to all the posts/pages/content restricted for ccap “A”, and membershipB will get access to everything that has ccap “B”. Then, you can get fancy and give access to a “super member” to all the “A” and the “B” and so on.

I am currently using it in my site (http://scrapbookcampus.com), where some students enroll in course called “basic”, while others enroll in anoter one called “element”. All the lessons are assigned a ccap of either “basic” or “element” and the students can access only those they paid for.

That is a VERY powerful feature of s2Member. You can read more in your s2Member dashboard under API/Scripting >Custom Capabiilities and you can check the video here:

Good luck

Is there a way to still rate or indicate somehow, the very useful posts? Sometimes, they might be a good reference for others. Just a thought.

The button generator will only make a code. You can edit that code as you wish, once you know what attribute you want to change, whether it is a ccap, the description, the amount, the period or even the button image. So yes, you can just edit the shortcode for the button where the button currently is and it should work as before, but with the new attributes. I have done that myself numerous time to adjust the buttons to whatever needs to be adjusted.

When a visitor tries to access a restricted page, it should automatically be redirected to your Membership option page. Did you set one up? If so, make sure it is indicated under the General Option > Membership Option Page. Use the pull down list of pages you have made and choose which one will be your Membership Option page (even if it is not called like that).

I have been using IE and Firefox (because i NEED FF to edit my Headway theme pages), but i hate it as a browser so i edit the WP pages in IE. It seems that if i log in or out of one, it affects the other so i never seemed to be a solution, however, if you are suggesting that, i’ll look further into it.
Thanks

I see. I wish i could help more, but that is already further than my knowledge. I am sure someone more knowledgeable will come in. Good luck.

I am no tech, but did you put the correct ID for the MailChimp list you want the member to be added to?
Also, i found that the addition of a member in MC is not instantaneous, and can take an hour or so in my experience, so maybe it is just taking longer? Just an idea here.

Simply so that i could give some conditional access to paying customers, whether they purchase a membership through s2M or through a shopping cart.

Thanks Christian. That is what i wanted to know (of course, if one had a specific good suggestion to use that level 0 “feature” it would be even better) :)

Glad it helps. And you will see, it is VERY easy to integrate! Good luck.

I integrated MailChimp seamlessly with s2M. I am no tech, but go in the API/List Server > MailChimp Integration , add the MailChimp® API Key and then finding the ID number for your list that you create in MC and entering it in and there you will decide if you want the member`s name into the list for which level.

I am pretty sure it meets your first two requirements. For the third one, i am not sure. Hope it helps.

Hum… yes and no in a way. Would any shopping cart user be automatically registered as a Level 0 member for s2M?

You see, the “problem” i have with paypal express is that although it seems to give the option to use a credit card in the pro-form, it really now REQUIRES a paypal account to use a credit card, while the paypal standard can let the user say “i dont have a paypal account” and pay with their credit card, making it even more flexible for those who do NOT have a PP account, or cannot have one, or choose not to have one. So it seems just kind of an upside down option: adding options with the pro-form removes some flexibility on the other end. That is my dilema!

As an added question: in the next update that might allow coupons without the pro-form, will it also allow a coupon for 100%? this might be a valuable feature to have.

While checking for those subscribed threads (thanks Christian), i saw also some “votes” under my name. What are they and where are they from? I noticed i have 1 vote, but what does it mean? (just curious when something is associated with my name)
