Was the customer already registered? And if yes, was the customer logged in when they made their transaction? I found that if an already registered customer makes a purchase while logged out, s2 does not seem able to associate the transaction with the customer. I have had to add custom capabilities and membership levels manually for those.

If that is not the issue, surely someone else would be able to help.

There is a hack that was developed by Krum, a programmer, to have a specific code added to the ccap and determine the specific date a ccap was purchased so you can base your conditionals on that particular date. It might be close to what you need.
You can read about it here:
http://krumch.com/2012/09/03/s2member-hack-custom-ccaps//?ap_id=Cassel

Have a look and you can also ask the programmer if you want something slightly different but the hack is very flexible.

I think there is a way to do it with a third party hack. It sounds like something that the “ccap clock timer” could do (I have not tried it myself but it is worth checking).

This hack was done by Krum and you can read about it here:
http://krumch.com/2012/11/06/kc-s2member-ccap-clock-timer//?ap_id=Cassel

Like I said, I am not certain but I think you can use the ccaps and have the content disappear after a certain period, even if the user has the specific ccap.

I am using the plugin in question, and it simply adds a special code to the ccaps so that if a subscriber start paying in January, all the subsequent issues will be accessible to them, while the next person, who subscribed in June, will only see the June issue and subsequent. So every issue put on your site would need to have that specific ccap and you wont have to change the conditional on it for the current one to display (unless you want the current one to display to all, even if not subscribed).

So, with this, I am not sure why you would need to email the subscriber with the issue as it can be on the site, but only accessible to the subscribers with the correct ccaps. If you really need to email your subscriber, it would have to be done outside of s2M as it does not really have a mailing capability, but you might want to use an auto-responder from MailChimp, aWeber or other mailing list provider.

I would recommend that you check this plugin:
http://krumch.com/2012/11/06/kc-s2member-ccap-clock-timer/?ap_id=Cassel

It sounds like what you need. If not, just drop him an email and he might tweak the plugin for your need.

Krum has developed a plugin to integrate s2M with MC bidirectionally. I am not sure it currently has that function you are looking for, but you might want to drop him a note. Here is the link to the plugin, to have something to start with:

I am not a tech support but i remember that occasionally, i would click on something and get no response. I found that it tend to be associated with the browser and if i change browser, then it works. Might be worth asking this gentleman to try that alternative?

I dont think s2M is able to do that. As far as i know, there is no “cart” system to add more than one product before completing transaction. Someone might chime in if there is any particular hack for it, but i am doubtful on that, unfortunately.

If I change it manually, where do I do that?

But the previous question still stand.

And if i change it for the widget, will that also change the WP login page where there is also a “Register” like here:

Is there a work-around to solve this problem.

I have S2Member Pro
I only have the PayPal (FREE) account (at this time not upgrading to PayPal Pro)

This is not a problem to be solved. That is exactly how s2Member pro can do. No hack, no code. No need for Paypal Pro. You just wont be able to accept credit cards when using the pro-form (which you need to use so the user can enter a coupon code). Just check under s2Member > Coupons.

You will likely have to edit the code manually.

Copy and paste it in a text editor, and you will see the output=”button” as Eduan mentioned. That is the “button” that you would replace, i guess.

If you want to look into the Headway Theme, you can click on the affiliate link on my site! ;)

And looking in the wrong place for something, is definitely something common (at first, i didn`t even know the difference between a plugin and a widget!), so it is by asking questions that you end up figuring things out.

I want to remove the “edit” link found on all pages – can’t find a way to do that.
I want to remove the meta links on the right hand panel – can’t find a way to do that.

I think those are WP settings and not s2M. Not 100% sure, but those appeared on another site of mine even without s2M.

I want to add graphics, buttons, links, etc on a page. How to do that? Is there flexibility to place things where I want, or am I trapped to a fixed layout?

You can do anything you want on your page. S2M does not limit the format, really. I use a webeditor, and then copy the code into the page. I do have also a theme that allows me to add that code into blocks, but again, that has nothing to do with s2M itself. S2M does not provide templates of any kind so you are not stuck with a set format.

Bruce, plus a little thing. In this world of instant everything, I posted the original questions on June 1. You responded on June 4. Most people give up on tech support by that time.

Tech support is not usually available over the weekend. Only occasionally will tech support visit on weekend. Otherwise, it is only ordinary s2M users who might respond. Unfortunately, your first post was on a Saturday. Annoying, i know but that would be a likely explanation for the delay.

I am not sure if there is such a thing with bank transfer. Maybe with the Pro version since it accepts other gateways than just Paypal? Hopefully a knowledgeable tech person can answer that one.

Well, then, that would be possible.

1 – I have a site where i also have one membership course (non-recurring) and the content is video on the site and pdf handouts. I also have another one that has a recurring payment with dripped content (also, videos and pdf to download)

2- I have some downloads available for paid members only (the videos in mp4 format), and i would assume that your downloads would work just like any other download.

3- That would likely be other downloads that can be protected in the same way as above.

You’ll see that s2Member is very powerful and flexible. You can download the free version and it has all the features so you can test it even before purchasing (and maybe the free version will be enough too).

I know for a fact that you can do the first two since that is what i do on my site. But i am not sure about the Physical Seminar. I guess it would depend on what you want the s2M to do, whether it is for registration, downloading content for it, etc.

I am sure someone will chime in for the third point.

Maybe i am off, but what will the “My Account” link do? Looking at that widget, it looks like the setting for “Signup Now (enter URL, or just use %%automatic%%)” would need to have the URL. Am i correct?

And if i change it for the widget, will that also change the WP login page where there is also a “Register” like here:
http://scrapbookcampus.com/wp-login.php

First, I love your site! Is that done with WordPress? I would really like to know how to create bordered boxes like that. I have a menu structure similar to that in the main part of my site, but how to do it in WP?
I may cheat, and use your theme, if you wouldn’t mind. It looks far better than the one I’m using.

Thanks. Yes, it is a WP install and I am using Headway Theme; it is a visual drag and drop system which is very flexible.

I don’t see how to identify the landing page so that is the first thing a visitor sees.

I am not 100% sure, but the landing page I have is just the Index page. I never changed that but I think I saw somewhere in the forum a way to change that and have another page as the first one. I am not sure it is a s2M thing but maybe just a WP thing. Hopefully a support rep can point you to the correct way to do that. It is not something I have done, so I would not know

I think there might be a confusion in terminology.

You want a “sign up” page to have Paypal buttons to purchase. This would be your Membership Option page (if you want). The page where the users are directed to CAN definitely have those buttons to purchase your membership or product.

The Login page is just the page where a registered user would be sent to LOG IN. If a visitor was to land on that page, they would be prompted to LOG IN, or, at the bottom of that page, they could REGISTER (that would be a free registration for Level 0 by default)

So the path for a visitor would be this:
– comes to the site
– tries to access a restricted page/content
– is sent to the Membership Option page where you can give the pitch of “please, buy this, or register”
On that page, you can have 3 things:
– either Paypal buttons so the visitor can directly purchase from that page
– either a link to a sale page where you can detail more about your products and have a Paypal button there
– or a regular link sending the visitor to register for free (sending to the http://yoursite.com/wp-login.php?action=register page)

Have a look at my site for an illustration: http://scrapbookcampus.com/
If you try to access this page: http://scrapbookcampus.com/element-creation-index/plaid-paper-1/
you will be sent to the Membership Option page because it is protected.
From that page, I have links to sales page, but I could also have placed Paypal buttons directly on that page (I just wanted to be pushier).

Do you think this would clarify what is happening with those pages you are talking about?

If it works as you want, I would say you did it correctly.
Good work.

I wonder if it does not recognize you anyways. Did you try pretending to be a random visitor, through either a different computer or a different browser?

I also created an additional test page which I assigned “0″ for free access.

Where did you assign that level “0”? Did you use the box on the top right of the dashboard when you enter the content of the page or somewhere else?

I can understand your frustration (been there, done that). Let`s just look one step at the time.
You said you set up the 3 levels.
You have a page for “Membership Option Page”, i assume.
For the other pages you created, where did you enter the page restriction? Did you enter it in the box on the top right?

It should be working, so the issue is to figure out what is going on. I have been using this plugin for over 2 years (i am not a tech support, just another customer) and once i got it set up, everything was fine. So, let’s just have a look at what you are doing for the restrictions.

– are you protecting content based on level or ccaps?
– where do you enter the restriction value? In the page? In the box on the top right?
– when you say that you get the first page, unrestricted, do you mean the “home” page? I think it cannot be restricted since you need visitors to land somewhere.
– did you try checking a page as yourself (an admin) or a non-logged in visitor? This can make a difference.

I am sure there will be a simple solution. It is just a matter of finding it.
