Hi Justin. If you use the pro-forms, it’d help you get around that rule, since instead of modifying the existing subscription, it creates a new one and removes the previous one. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms[/hilite] I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Chris.
Custom capabilities would be removed by s2Member when the Auto EOT Behavior demotes the user. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Automatic EOT Behavior[/hilite] To remove the custom capability under other circumstances, you’d have to customize your installation. Hi Thomas. Where you testing these conditionals logged in as the admin? If so, that’d explain it. Your conditionals above check if the user has that exact level, not if he can access that level’s content: [hilite mono]current_user_is(s2member_level1)[/hilite] vs. [hilite mono]current_user_can(access_s2member_level1)[/hilite]. Does that help? |

Hi Sam. When you say import, I’m guessing you mean having the user registered in WordPress using the pro-form, you’re not referring to the User Import tool, are you? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Import/Export -› User/Member Importation[/hilite] Could you post the shortcode of the pro-form you’re having this problem with? Also, what are your settings for the first and last names here? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Registration/Profile Fields[/hilite] You say it’s a clean installation of WordPress with just s2Member and your custom theme. Could you change to the default theme and test again? Just want to make sure it’s not the theme conflicting here. Knowledge Base » Common Troubleshooting Tips » Theme I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Michelle. No, s2Member doesn’t have this. You’d need another plugin for that. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=email+users&sort= Or you can integrate use a service like AWeber or MailChimp and integrate it with s2Member. Video » s2Member (API List Servers) I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Lizabeth. You could do that with a JavaScript redirection. For example: [hilite pre_code][[s2If !is_user_logged_in()] [/s2If]] [/hilite] That’s a redirection… but you also mention having a link, so maybe I misunderstood. If you just want the link then it’d be something like: [hilite pre_code][[s2If !is_user_logged_in()] MOP [/s2If]] [/hilite] I hope that helps. :) |

Hmm… Well, with PayPal Standard or Express Checkout, you don’t need to pay extra to sell subscriptions, but with PayPal Pro you do need to upgrade. I’m not sure what PayPal service you’re having the problem with, but it’s likely it’s PayPal Pro if you’re using the PayFlow API, although you could still be having the user paying via Express Checkout when using the pro-form.
Are these old subscriptions from a different PayPal service? I mean, were they, for example, created with PayPal Standard and are you now trying to upgrade them with PayPal Pro? Did you change your PayPal account between the user’s first subscription and the upgrade? This would cause a problem. |

Hi Luke.
No, s2Member doesn’t do this. It’s very likely that there is another plugin designed for user tracking, though. Have you searched the plugins repository for one? I can’t say how well they’d play with s2Member, since I haven’t tried them together, but it wouldn’t be too hard for you to test and find out. |

Right, I meant the WP account. :) Thanks for the log entry. Did you purchase the recurring payments service from PayPal? You have to upgrade your PayPal account to sell subscriptions. Contact PayPal and tell them about it, please. |

Thanks for the login. I looked at the field and saw all the values in a single line. I pasted the correct one you posted above and saved, and saw that the field again has them all in a single line. Something is affecting the behavior, and I suspect it’s a conflict. When you tested deactivating the other plugins/theme, did you then edit the field and saved it to see if the options were correct afterwards? If not, please do this. |

I remember that thread, and it has to do with s2Member because of the conditionals you’d use, but the template you have to edit is BuddyPress’. |

Hi Dan. No, that would not be possible with Specific Post/Pages, because there’s no account involved, so there’s no count of the downloads to check when he reached his limit. If the user is logged in and you protect the file with a Level, then you can set the number of downloads every n days, though. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Download Options -› Basic Download Restrictions[/hilite] I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Evgeni.
That’d be fine. Yes, then can upgrade later without a problem. Sure, you can collect their names editing the profile.
Yes, you’d have to edit their profiles manually and change the role to s2Member’s Level 1. To have the demotion happen, you’d have to set the EOT time in their profiles and make sure that the Auto EOT Behavior is set to demotion. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Automatic EOT Behavior[/hilite] I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Casey. I don’t know if there’d be a conflict. My guess is that the registration should work normally. I seem to remember other site owners mentioning using Gravity Forms in the same site where they used s2Member… Have you tried deactivating s2Member and testing the Gravity form again to see if the problem goes away? That’d be a way to tell if there may be a conflict between them. |

Hi Debra. You can protect those areas of the site using s2Member, as long as they’re served by WordPress. A separate forum script (e.g. phpBB) can’t be protected this way. If the forum you use is a WP plugin (e.g. bbPress), s2Member can protect it to some extent using the URI restriction. About registartion, you can use the usual WP page (/wp-login.php?action=register) or create a custom one using s2Member’s pro-forms. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms[/hilite] I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Alex. With s2Member Pro Forms, s2Member Pro allows you to configure taxes inside your WordPress Dashboard for all transaction types. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Options -› Tax Rate Calculations[/hilite] With Standard PayPal “Buy Now” Buttons, taxes need to be configured inside your PayPal account instead. http://flyingcart.com/blog/how-do-i-use-my-paypal-tax-settings/ Checkout occurs at PayPal in that case, and tax rates need to be configured based on the Customer’s location, which is something that only PayPal will know. PayPal does not apply your tax calculations to Subscriptions, though, so you’ll need to make them Buy Now Buttons. Or, if the location doesn’t matter and it’s the same tax for everyone, you also have the option of just including it to the amount you’re charging, so there’s not tax calculation needed by s2Member or PayPal. I hope that helps. :) |
