I think he meant updating a user’s account when you don’t know his User ID. Like, if the user is registered, already has an account, but is lacking a lot of profile info that the company already has from another database. In that case they’d want to import that data for the user, but that other database doesn’t have the WP User ID, so they’d need to be able to use another field to update the account with the new data. Some fields that may work, depending on the case, could be username, email address, full name. Ayman, did I get it right? |

Hi Klaus.
You mean registration fields you created with s2Member? [hilite path]WP Admin -> s2Member -> General Options -> Registration/Profile -> Custom Field[/hilite] Those will be added to the WP registration form automatically. [hilite mono]/wp-login?action=register[/hilite]
They can register from the same registration page, but you’ll need to have Open Registration enabled for non-paying users to be allowed by s2Member. [hilite path]WP Admin -> s2Member -> General Options -> Open Registration[/hilite]
You can enter a redirection URL for the Login Welcome Page. [hilite path]WP Admin -> s2Member -> General Options -> Login Welcome Page -> Special Redirection URL[/hilite] I hope that helps! :) |

Hi Bill. I’m very sorry about the very delayed response. I’m glad you figured out the first problem. I’ll try to answer the others:
Well, the page ID restriction will work with WordPress pages only, so if you’re trying to apply it to, say, a BuddyPress page, that’s not gonna work. The URI restriction, on the other hand, will work with any web page that WordPress serves, including BuddyPress, WP pages, WP posts, etc.
Look at the URL after the domain name.
That’s very odd. It’s as if cookies weren’t being set properly after login. Could you check if there’s a plugin conflict causing this? Create a backup of the site and start deactivating other plugins one by one, testing after each if it’s possible to browse the members pages after having logged in. If the problem goes away, then the last plugin you deactivated was the one causing it. If you end up with just s2Member and the session problem persists, could you please provide a test account to try it? Please use the private contact form for this: http://www.s2member.com/contact/ I hope that helps! :) |

Very sorry about the delay. I looked at your log entries and saw the error you mention, but there are several successful ones after that. Next time you have that error again, please review you AliPay options. [hilite path]WP Admin -> s2Member -> AliPay Options[/hilite] I’m not sure why the API is not firing, but I suspect it may be a plugin conflict. Could you please deactivate other plugins one by one and try a test transaction after each, checking if the notification happened? If it works, then the last plugin you deactivated was causing the problem. You can also use an email address to get the notifications, check the email field at the bottom of the notification panel. [hilite path]WP Admin -> s2Member -> API / Notifications -> Specific Post/Page ~ Sale -> Send An Email[/hilite] I hope that helps! Let us know how it goes. |

So the user first donates and Auth.Net WP creates an account for him, then if you want him to upgrade through s2Member, he’d need to be logged in to that account. For an account upgrade to happen, the user has to be logged in to his account or s2Member will assume he doesn’t have one and will take him to the registration page after payment. Does that help? |

Hi Ayman. That’s a great suggestion! I’m taking note of it right now to see if we can implement it in the next major release, which we’re working on. Thank you! :) |

Hi Lovell. Could you tell us what the conflicting plugin is? If you haven’t narrowed it down to one yet, could you please deactivate those latest plugins you installed, one by one, trying the download after each? Once you spot the one causing the conflict, it’d be possible to find a replacement or contact the developer to improve it. Also let us know which one it is so we can look at it from our end. Thanks! :) |

Hi Lovell. The widget has an option for that: [hilite path]WP Admin -> Appearance -> Widgets -> s2Member Pro Login -> Redirection after login[/hilite]. Just set it to “previous page”. I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Debbie. It’s perfectly understandable that it would make you worry to see this. He seems to be having an adware problem in his machine, from what I could find in Google after watching his video. |

Thanks for your support, Dave. It’s very appreciated! I think he honestly believed it was s2Member or he wouldn’t have posted about it. I’m sure he’ll find the source of the problem soon and update us. :) |

Dale, I started watching your video and saw the “SEO Expert” link in your opening post, as you mentioned. I can tell you that is not what I get here, for me it’s just plain text. Here’s a screenshot: It may be a browser add-on doing it, or maybe your system is infected. Have you tried viewing those pages from another computer?

Hi Dale. I’m sorry you’re having that problem, but that is absolutely not part of s2Member’s behavior. We include no ad or linking in the content, in no way. Try s2Member in a clean installation of WordPress and you will see, or review the code, which is open, and see if you can find any instance of what you mentioned. I suggest you investigate other plugins you have running or the possibility of having been hacked to include that. Please let us know if you spot what the source of this was. I hope you can find it soon. |

Hi Kitty. No, s2Member doesn’t manage file uploads or their directories. You’d need to customize the file uploader to do this the way you need it, so it checks for the user’s ccap to find/create the right directory to upload. About controlling what plugins a level can or not use in the multisite network, you may find this thread interesting: http://www.primothemes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1414 I hope that helps. :) |

Hola Mario.
So when you finish, you’d save the file as [hilite mono]/wp-content/plugins/s2member-es_ES.mo[/hilite]. I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Keith. 1) No, the s2Member buttons don’t have this option, but since you’re not selling a membership, only getting a payment which is not tied to the account to determine content access or its expiration, then you can create a button over at PayPal to get payments. 2) No, the integration with Authorize.Net doesn’t handle checks. A PayPal account can be connected to a checking account, so that payments via PayPal Buttons or through Pro Forms with Express Checkout are actually funded by a checking account. Yes, this works with Pro Forms also, so long as PayPal Express Checkout is offered as the solution for any customer that wants to pay by check. I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Tre. The custom fields are the same in the free or pro version. The registration form there is available in s2Member Pro. [hilite path]WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Pro-Forms -> Free Registration[/hilite] The email verification is not possible yet, you’d need to hack that. About changing the template for the pro-form, it is possible. [hilite mono]/wp-content/plugins/s2member-pro/includes/templates/forms/paypal-registration-form.php[/hilite] http://www.s2member.com/faqs/#s2-faqs-pro-form-template-mods I hope that helps. :) |

Hi Eric, 1) The Membership Options Page is not meant to be the Home page of your site, but a page where users get sent when they try to view a restricted page/post. It’s not advisable to pick the same page for the Membership Options and Home, because it can cause conflicts in WordPress. You may have the same content in both if you prefer it, though. 2) s2Member will remove from the menu, pages that the user doesn’t have access to. Check out the setting [hilite path]WP Admin -> s2Member -> Restriction Options -> Alternative View -> Nav Menus[/hilite] 3) http://www.s2member.com/kb/force-terms-and-conditions-agreement/ I hope that helps. :) |

So, what is different between the two installations? The dev version only has s2Member and the theme, right? Did you try the same with the main site? If so, what’s different? It’s hard to pinpoint this one… Did you try re-installing s2Member in the main site, first deleting all the files via FTP and then re-upload? http://www.primothemes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=247 |

No, s2Member doesn’t include that kind of check for restrictions. We’ve honestly never been requested this before, that I remember. If you know how to detect the device, you could log it on registration and then compare it on login or when trying to view a certain page, to see if it’s the same one and give an error if not. |
